Pond's Vitamin Micellar Water Brightening Rose Review

If you are a fan of eye makeup you might as well relate to the hassle of removing it as well. I recently got into using an eyeliner on a regular basis ( weekly once or twice) and using an oil based cleansing balms (emulsifying or non emulsifying) is so tough on the eye area. And again applying a foaming cleanser to remove that oil just for an eyeliner gets me really lazy. I spotted Ponds Vitamin Micellar Water Brightening Rose and thought of picking it up for using as a gentle eye makeup remover. Let's head to the review.

Ponds Vitamin Micellar Water Brightening Rose Review

Brand Claims and Ingredients

Packaging, Fragrance and Colour
The packaging is a see through tube with a pink flip top cap. It is a compact and travel friendly packaging. The colour of the micellar water is like water that is colourless and consistency is of water. The fragrance of the Ponds Vitamin Micellar Water Brightening Rose is of rose. When we sniff the micellar water from the bottle it feels very strong and non artificial. Once we dispense the micellar water onto a cotton wipe the fragrance doesn't feel strong and is quite mild. I like the fragrance is all I can say, it's soothing and heart warming for removing make-up which is such a task at the end of the day.

My experience
I apply Lakme eyeliner and an eyebrow filler sometimes. I do use L'Oreal concealer and foundation on rare occasions. The concealer isn't of much use for my under eye dark circles and I end up using it on my slightly pigmented areas near my lips and chin.

So after applying the Lakme Gel eyeliner and an eyebrow filler for a good 6 hours I tested the Pond's Vitamin Micellar Water Brightening Rose. The micellar water removed the eyebrow filler in one go and for eyeliner it took some 2-3 swipes to remove it. I first pressed the cotton pad onto my eyes for the micellar water to make the eyelid a bit damp. With this method of pressing the cotton on my eyelid some micellar water entered my eyelids and it irritated a bit.

Also to reduce my usage of cotton pads I use my crochet pads with the micellar water and they end up soaking a lot of product. So I sometimes use an old hosiery cloth to wipe off my eyeliner.
Now to test out the concealer and foundation both from L'Oreal, I tried them at home and they both were wiped off my face with around 2 swipes. I also use Ponds Vitamin Micellar Water Brightening Rose to wipe off my Innisfree UV Protection SPF 35 PA++ Mild Sunscreen. I haven't experienced any irritation or drying out of the skin.

Overall I like to use Pond's Vitamin Micellar Water Brightening Rose for removing just my eyeliner as am lazy with cleansing balms on my eyelids. Also I like using cleansing balms for full face makeup (which I hardly do) and for deep skin cleansing (thrice a week) to keep whiteheads and blackheads at bay. So Pond's Vitamin Micellar Water Brightening Rose is a really good option if you are looking to invest in a good micellar water.

Price, shelf life and Availability - 125 INR for 105 ml with a shelf life of 3 years. Available on Amazon and Nykaa. Also available in stores.

Recommendation
Pond's Vitamin Micellar Water Brightening Rose is a good option to use for removing make-up and sunscreen if you are using micellar waters on regular basis. I use it only to remove my eyeliner as most of the cleansing balms I own irritate the eyes. Pond's is not a cruelty free brand so if you are someone who is into vegan and cruelty free brand you might want to skip this. Pond's Vitamin Micellar Water Brightening Rose is a good, affordable and easily available micellar water out there.

Roop Mantra Cucumber Ayurvedic Medicinal Face Wash Review

Cucumber is a very beneficial ingredient when it comes to oily acne prone skin due to it's hydrating and toning effects. I have never used a face wash with cucumber extracts or cucumber pulp in it so I was excited to use Roop Mantra Cucumber Face Wash.

I have been using Roop Mantra Cucumber Face Wash for around 25 days and here is my review.

Brand Claims and Ingredients

Packaging, Consistency and Fragrance
Packaging is simple flip top cap tube which is common for the face wash packaging. The colour of tube is white and cap top fits in tightly. Packaging is travel friendly. The consistency of the face wash is a little runny and as soon as we open the flip cap top the face wash is dispensed on your hand. The colour of the face wash is very pale, light green. The fragrance of the face wash is a little Cucumber like. The fragrance is not at all strong and is non lingering as well. I like this fact very much and fragrance is soothing. Although the product has fragrance and colour in it's ingredients. The face wash has some pink beads in it which when pressed along with water turn into foam.

Price, Shelf life and Availability - 83 INR for 115 ml with a shelf life of 3 years from date of manufacturing. Available on Amazon.in, Nykaa.com

My experience
I have been using this face wash as a part of my PM (night time) skincare routine. I have used it standalone as well as a part of my double cleansing routine. The face wash foams quite mildly in hard water supply. It creates a soft foam and cleanses the skin nicely. I sometimes do the 1 minute cleanse routine with this and it hasn't irritated or made my skin stretchy.

I sometimes use this face wash twice a day and it hasn't made my skin dry or left it dehydrated. I like the fragrance of the face wash as it is very mild and non lingering. The face wash cleanses the skin nicely and when used a part of double cleansing it removes the oil residue very nicely. A little goes a long way in case of Roop Mantra Cucumber Face Wash. You need very very less quantity for each use and the 100 ml tube won't get over for another 5 months I think.

The face wash claims to be helpful in controlling blemishes and acne and I can't say 100% if helps in this area. Although after including this face wash in my routine I haven't experienced any acne as such. I don't think a face wash alone can help in controlling acne or blemishes. Acne and blemishes are a result of many things.

Overall Roop Mantra Cucumber Face Wash will suit all skin types although dry skinned beauties should include it in their routine a little thoughtfully.

The In
  • Cleanses the skin nicely
  • Doesn't dry out the skin or make it stretchy
  • Contains manjistha, neem, haridra, cucumber, lodhra, aloevera, pudina
  • Travel friendly packaging
  • Affordable product
  • Value for money product
  • Fits perfectly in the skincare routine in a double cleansing or single cleansing step
The Out
  • Contains parabens
  • Contains added fragrance and colours
  • Contains base material as QS so full ingredients list is not mentioned
Recommendation
Roop Mantra Cucumber Face Wash is a good face wash to try out for oily acne prone as a day to day cleanser. It fits nicely into a double cleansing or single cleanse routine. Moreover the face wash doesn't dry out the skin when used twice a day. I like the mild fragrance of the face wash although it contains added cucumbers fragrance. The product is also quite affordable and value for money. I already have a backup of this face wash. You won't regret picking it up if your skin is oily, combination or normal.

HyaluGel Plus Hyaluronic Acid Gel Review

Oily skin is prone to acne and clogged pores due to excess sebum secretion. Oily skin needs more of hydration rather than moisturization. I have oily and acne prone skin and to combat it I do everything right from double cleansing to weekly clay masking and steaming. But to truly combat oily skin you need a good moisturizer. Let's see the Review of HyaluGel Plus Hyaluronic Acid Gel today.

Brand Claims and Ingredients

Packaging, Texture and Fragrance - The packaging is simple tube with a screw too lid. The product is 30 gms and it is pretty small to carry around. The consistency of the gel is like glue. The gel is colourless and fragrance free. It's not much watery and not too thick. The product is fragrance free but it smells a lot like glue. I have got used to the fragrance but it really bothers.

My experience
I have been using oil free moisturizers since November end. My skin was breaking out crazily if I use oils or heavy moisturizers. So before using HyaluGel Plus Hyaluronic Acid Gel I was using Sebamed Clear face gel. So I often end up comparing this one with sebamed.

Now coming to the gel it gets absorbed in the skin upon massaging, but as we try to massage it does spread like water, the consistency remains the same and once absorbed it feels hydrated yet like a thin layer stretched on the skin. You need to actually again massage your face to feel normal. Skin feels soft and smooth for some hours like 4 hours and after this I feel the need to again moisturize my skin.

In between with the winters being too harsh I applied two layers of this moisturizer with a gap of 20 minutes and the upper layer just peeled out after some hours instead of getting absorbed. This part especially disappointed me a lot. Also coming to the fragrance it feels a bit off and is like glue.
One thing I would like to say is this product is good as a moisturizer if you are breaking out with literally everything, by everything I mean everything. My skin couldn't tolerate oils, emulsifiers and any double cleansing last month, so I was using HyaluGel Plus Hyaluronic Acid Gel and it pretty much worked good. This moisturizer is good to use beneath a sunscreen wherein we get worried about a moisturizer clogging the pores.

The In
  • Compact packaging
  • Oil free Light weight gel for oily acne prone skin
  • Doesn't contain artificial fragrance or colour
  • Gets absorbed easily into the skin
  • Contains glycerine, Hyaluronic acid in aqueous gel base
  • Non-oily, non-comedogenic aqueous gel

The Out
  • It is a little sticky when applied in excess
  • Contains parabens (if you are concerned about using them)
  • It doesn't contain any artificial fragrance but existing fragrance is like glue
  • A bit pricey according to the quantity

Price, Shelf life and Availability - 349 INR for 30 gms with a shelf life of 3 years. Available on Amazon, Ethicare Remedies website

Recommendation -
HyaluGel Plus Hyaluronic Acid Gel is a good moisturizer if you are not able to tolerate any moisturizer or face oil and your skin is breaking out crazily. The only thing I don't like it you can't use more than a required quantity of HyaluGel Plus Hyaluronic Acid Gel. If you apply excess product it won't get absorbed into the skin and will just sit on top of the skin as a layer. Also product is pricier than it's counterparts in the market. I don't like the fragrance and the non-absorbing nature of the product when applied in excess. Overall speaking I would say this is an ok sort of a moisturizer for oily skin.

Greenie Mill Mangosteen and Moringa Cleansing Balm Review

Hi everyone today is the first blog post of the year 2020. Today we are going to check the review of Greenie Mill Mangosteen and Moringa Cleansing Balm. I have been using this cleansing balm ever since I have received. Most of the Greenie Mill  products have worked quite well for me. I had picked up the cleansing balm during one of their sale. So let's get started with the review.

Ingredients
Mangosteen infused Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Seed Oil, Glycerin, Moringa Oleifera (Moringa) Seed Oil*, Rosa Canina (Rose hip) seed oil*, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Seed Oil, Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, Calophyllum Inophyllum (Tamanu) Oil, Melia azadirachta (Neem)seed Oil, Garcinia indica (Kokum) Butter, Polyglyceryl-4-oleate (vegan emulsifier based on olive and sunflower oil), Leptospermum Scoparium (Manuka) Oil, Cymbopogon martini (Palmarosa) Oil , Tocopherol

How to use
Scoop a tiny amount of Mangosteen and Moringa cleansing balm and apply it all over your face and neck. Gently massage the balm onto your skin and leave it for about 3 to 5 minutes. Then splash some water and rinse your face thoroughly. I usually use warm water to wipe off or splash.

Packaging, Texture and Consistency
The balm is housed in a plastic tub with a screw top and an inner lid. When I received the balm it had melted and leaked a bit. However the brand is looking into alternative packaging to tackle the leakage. The texture of the balm is thick which melts when it comes contact with body. The colour of the balm is that of a caramel and fragrance is that of mangosteen. The balm turns oily when we take it in our palm but not overly oily. Don't try to close the lid with one hand as the melted balm from another hand has chances of staining your clothes or getting run down on your sink or anywhere.

My experience
I wear zero makeup on daily basis and use this balm to remove my sunscreen or just for double cleansing. The balm melts on hand but when you massage it on your skin it doesn't turn into full oil due to the butters in it. This balm helps in removing the dirt and sunscreen for daily double cleansing. The brand suggests to wash the face with warm water once we massage the balm. I sometimes use crochet pads dipped in warm water to wipe off the balm. After using the balm I use a foaming cleanser as a second cleanse. The balm makes the skin soft while giving a natural glow to the skin with it's thorough cleansing effect.

I have also tried to remove the Loreal foundation with this balm but I found it a little ineffective for removing it. I had bought some makeup to use during Diwali which I clearly didn't use so I have put it aside for testing different balms. This balm also stings the eyes a bit while removing the gel eyeliner. I had to use this balm twice to remove the foundation and liner. This will remove BB cream or light makeup but not heavy makeup.

Overall speaking I would recommend this balm for daily double cleansing and removing sunscreen. It is very effective in skin cleansing and I haven't experienced a single acne while using this balm. I would recommend Greenie Mill Mangosteen and Moringa Cleansing Balm as one of the good balms to use for double cleansing and removing sunscreen or light makeup.

Price, Shelf life and Availability - 472 INR for 50 gms with a shelf life of 8 months. Buy here

Recommendation
Greenie Mill Mangosteen and Moringa Cleansing Balm is one of the best balms to use for oily acne prone skin for removing sunscreen or light makeup or double cleansing. Follow this up with a foaming cleanser to manage your whiteheads and blackheads as well. I didn't experience any acne or clogged pores while using this balm.
