Pocket Friendly Facial Scrubs for Oily Skin Type!

Guest post by Bhawna D.

Hello all,

Though Dubai is landmarked as the place wherein Oil mines are in abundance; facial skin of oily skin type fellas does not willingly accept her defeat. Instead, churns on her factory machines so as to work for an extra few hours! Our major concern remains to liberate ourselves from that unrequired grease. Thus, we skip upon moisturizers and scrubs. Facial scrubs are usually cream based which provides intense hydration and extra shine to the face. Solution? You say “Ditch those bad boys”! I say “Dig in more ‘cause there’s a vast sea out there”! *wink*

Ethicare Remedies Lipidz Review

Hey All,

Today's review of the product Ethicare Remedies Lipidz Cream is based on science. We all know our skin has a barrier and it helps prevent the skin from drying, external factors such as sun, bacteria etc. More often than not we damage the barrier due to over cleansing, over exfoliating, excess use of actives such AHA, BHA etc. The cream claims to restore the skin barrier and replenish the lipids. Let's see how this one goes.

Brand claims
Damaged barrier function due to deficiency of skin lipids is the main cause for many skin imperfections and skin problems, including dry skin. Lipidz contains both physiological and non physiological lipids (used in western country products). So, Lipidz plays an important role to re-establish skin’s barrier function (skin’s defense system) through replenishing skin’s protective Lipids in adequate quality. It has non-greasy and non-comedogenic formula. It is ideal for all skin type including sensitive skin.

Key Ingredients
Hyaluronic acid, Ceramide, Squalene, Lecithin.

My experience
The product is packaged in a tube with a screw top and colour of packaging is very attractive. The glossy finish of the tube makes it look classy. The cream is super white in colour and is a bit runny in consistency. Although the consistency is smooth and cream looks glossy. Tube packaging is very convenient and easy to use as well as travel friendly.

The cream has mild fragance and it instantly reminds me of a caramel chocolate. It smells sweet but very mild and hence it's not at all bothering and yes it's not lingering as well. The cream being very smooth in texture glides easily on skin and gives a glossy look to the skin.

I tired the cream on face and it gave me surprising effects on facial skin. I have a few dry patches on my forehead and it instantly cured them. for hands and feet the hydration was okay sort since the cream is not heavily moisturising.

The cream is basically aimed at replenishing skin’s protective Lipids and repair the damaged skin barrier. It basically cures any skin irritation, dry patches and hydrates the skin without a sticky or heavy feel. I have never damaged my skin barrier so am unable to review the product accordingly, like I can not say in how many days your damaged skin barrier will be repaired by this cream.

However looking at the ingredients list am sure Hyaluronic acid, Ceramide, Squalene, Lecithin, help in curing the damaged skin barrier. Overall a good option to cure the damaged skin barrier.

The In
  • Cures damaged skin barrier by replenishing skin’s lipids
  • Contains Hyaluronic acid, cermaide, squalene, lecithin
  • Non greasy, non-oily cream based formula
  • Cures dry patches and irritation with regular usage
  • Gives a natural sheen to the skin for sometime
  • Paraben free formula
  • Attractive packaging
  • Travel friendly packaging and size
  • Sweet caramel fragrance which is not bothering
  • Hydrated my facial skin nicely
The Out
  • Contains mineral oil, petroleum jelly and perfume

Price, shelf life and availability - 199 INR for 50gm with a shelf life of 2 years. Available on Ethicare Remedies website

I would recommend this product if you have damaged your skin barrier and are looking to repair it. With ingredients like
Hyaluronic acid, Ceramide, Squalene, Lecithin this one is definitely recommended.

Auravedic Ritual Skin Lightening Mask Review

We all are scared of acne and the nightmare comes in picture when acne leave their belongings on our skin. You guessed it right, acne marks. I had a lot of acne marks which took time to heal with time. Few years back I hardly knew anything about skincare. But after being into the blogging world I have known a whole lot of good things. Today's review is about one such product which claims to fade acne marks. Let's hop onto the review to see whether the product lives upto it's claims. BTW this product was a part of my haul featuring Auravedic and Himalaya Herbals.

Brand claims
This gentle facial mask formulated with pure natural actives deeply penetrates the skin to lighten the complexion and clarify dark spots for glowing and radiant skin.

Extracts of Red sandal, Saffron, Turmeric, Neem, Tulsi, Licorice, Nagarmotha, Amla, Mulberry,  Papaya Enzyme, Sorbitol, Potassium Sorbate

My experience
The product is packaged in a small tub which has an inner lid to prevent product spillage. The tub is made up of plastic and is quite thick in nature, which means even if you drop the tub it won't break.

The mask is light yellow coloured, lemon colour to be specific. The consistency of the mask is good with a few tiny particles in it. I can perfectly relate to the consistency being same as Auravedic Anti Blemish Face Mask. The scent of the mask is very herbal and not at all artifical.

The mask takes time to dry and is not at all drying for my oily skin. At first after application the mask gives a little burning sensation, but after some time it fades away. The mask is easy to wash off also. Now coming to the effects, it actually fades the acne scars and pigmentation. Although for pigmentation a little patience is needed and if you have fresh acne scars they will fade out faster than the older ones.

On a serious note, to actually speed up your acne scars fading daily use is recommended. I am absolutely sure that the product won't disappoint you. Also be careful if you have a sensitive skin, please proceed with a patch test.

The In
  • Impressive ingredients list
  • Lightens the skintone and fades out acne scars
  • Shows results from first use itself
  • Works on hyper pigmentation also
  • Gets washed off easily
  • Good consistency of mask which makes application easy
  • Affordable price
  • Easily available online
  • Free from parabens, phthalates and artificial fragrance and colour

The Out

  • None

Price, shelf life and availability - 200 INR for 50 g with a shelf life of 2 years. Available easily on major shopping portals.

If you are looking for a fast and reliable way of lightening your acne scars or pigmentation then Auravedic Ritual Skin Lightening Mask is for you. Moreover it is easily affordable and free from harmful chemicals, thus ensuring tender loving care for the skin. The mask is very effective and shows results from first use itself. Skincare Villa highly recommendes the mask if you are looking for post acne treatment of scars.

Aplava.com Shopping Haul

Who doesn't love shopping? We all do (men included :P). With many online shopping portals opening up, we all find beauty products online shopping easy rather than dropping in to a store and shop. Even now-a-days I feel online shopping is much better as we get discounts too :D. Today we will be talking about my Aplava.com shopping haul and my shopping experience with them.

About Aplava.com
As a startup beauty company, we strive to bring an unparalleled assortment of prestige brands, household names and niche, cult beauty brands, all on one site. Our professional team of Dermatologists and Beauty advisors has cherry picked brands across a broad range of product categories including Skincare, Hair care, Bath & Body, Make Up, Fragrance, Sun & Travel, Intimacy, Shaving, Candles and Aromatherapy, Mom & Baby & Homecare. To make your experience worthwhile and easy, the team has developed a mechanism to advice and recommends products based on your skin type and skin concerns. Use the Personalized Beauty section on your profile page to get customized recommendation for your daily skin routine.  Unlike many other beauty retailers, we work directly with our manufacturers/authorized distributors to bring you over 5,000 products straight from the brands themselves. You can trust that anything you buy is 100% authentic, guaranteed.
Aplava has a range of high end brands which range from skincare to makeup, from bath and body to fragrances, from Wellness to intimacy. While going through the brands I also got to know that Aplava in itself is a brand and has makeup brushes also. So on Aplava.com you can buy makeup brushes online too :D. One thing which intrigued me was their Personalized Beauty section wherein we fill up our beauty profile and get beauty regimen recommendations. Below is the screenshot of the beauty profile page.

They also have Aplava Prestige Rewards wherein you earn Loyalty points which can be redeemed on your next shopping. Also they provide Free Express Shipping on orders above 999/- and you receive complimentary samples with every order. Although I didn't receive any complimentary samples with my order :(.

Now coming to my shopping experience, it was a hassle free one. I placed my order on 29th August 2016 and received my order on 7th September 2016. Initially I had ordered Natural Bath Grapefruit & Vitamin C Gel Face Masque and other products (will reveal soon :D). On 2nd September 2016, I received an email from the website stating there was a hitch in my order as Natural Bath Grapefruit & Vitamin C Gel Face Masque was not in stock even with Natural Bath and Body brand. The customer care also asked me how to proceed with the order and suggested me to give an alternative to serve and needed my confirmation. I immediately emailed them to send any other product of same brand, same cost value. I received an email back stating that they had noted my requirement and immediately informed me that they would be sending me Natural Bath Vitamin E Whipped cream and my order would be proceeded soon.

All the email conversation with the Customer Care took place in a single day and all I can say is that their Customer Care service is excellent. But I was heartbroken since I didn't get the product of my choice. One thing which bothered me here is why aren't products Out of Stock marked duly?!!! Even after this glitch the product still isn't showing Out of Stock status :(. Since I received a voucher for my shopping I didn't mind this problem and happily agreed to send another product of same brand and cost.

Phwww.... Now coming to what all I ordered and received

Natural Bath Vitamin E Whipped cream
Loaded with Vitamin E and the charmed potion of Virgin Coconut, Sweet Almond, Argan and Avocado Oils, this ultra-light cream completely nourishes, softens and tones the skin

Natural Bath French Red Clay Mask
The clay is blended with Rose oil, virgin Coconut oil and the balancing Cedar wood essential oils. As the oils further nourish the skin, Turmeric powder and Sandalwood give it a distinctive radiance

Wild Earth Indulgence Gift Set
This gift box contains 2 handmade natural soaps (100 gms), 1 Ginger Lime Shampoo (30 ml) & 1 Saffron Almond Moisturising Body Lotion (30 ml). Excellent as a travel kit, sample box or gift set.

I received my order in a nice Aplava box with each product individually bubble wrapped. The box and all products weren't damaged or broken at all. Overall I had a good time shopping with Aplava.com and they have excellent Customer Care service. The website is also pretty fast and has a clean and nice theme which is very easy to navigate as well.

I was pretty content with my shopping experience and wish to shop again with them. Have you shopped from them? How was your experience?

Scuba Diving as a profession and Scuba diving places in India

Scuba diving has been made look glamorous in Bollywoood. Films like Zindagi na Milegi Dobara have made it look so easy and simple, that you just dive in and swim. But it's not that easy. A lot of science goes into it. Scuba diving is a profession in itself as well as it is done as a recreational activity. Basically Scuba means self-contained underwater breathing apparatus. It's an underwater diving mode wherein the diver uses a scuba to breathe underwater.

Recreational diving is done for enjoyment and has a number of  disciplines to increase underwater interest such as cave diving, deep diving. Some divers also work full time, part time as instructors, dive masters and guides.

Other areas of scuba diving include military, civilian operations. Many police forces operate police diving teams to perform "search and recovery" or "search and rescue" operations. Moreover, some professional divers are involved with underwater world such as underwater photographers, underwater video graphers. They are involved in documenting the underwater world, or scientific diving, including marine biology, geology, hydrology, oceanography and underwater archaeology.

Being said the above points let us take a look at some scuba diving locations in India

Bay of Bengal offers amazing diving spot with pristine corals. The diving spots in Andaman are The Wall, Havelock and Dixon’s Pinnacle.

It's a divers paradise which offers daring, thrilling experience. The transparent blue water is mesmerising. The diving spots here are Princess Royal, Lost Paradise, Dolphin Reef, Class Room, Fish Soup and Manta Point.

Scuba in Goa is one of the safest place. Many people feel Goa is all about beaches and ocean. Many people don't know Goa also offers a great scuba diving. The scuba diving spots in Goa are Suzy’s Wreck, Sail Rock, Davy Jones Locker, Grand Island, Shelter Cove and Turbo Tunnel.

Netrani Islands, located 10 kms from Murudeshwar, off the coasts of Karnataka offer a nice scuba diving place. The famous diving spot of Netrani is Bhatkal shipwreck.

The costal waters of Tarkarli located near Sindhudurg Fort in Maharashtra, is clear and abundant with corals and colourful marine animals.

Pondicherry is the perfect destination for beginners as well as professionals. Being the only diving spot on India’s eastern coast, Pondicherry is characterised by natural coral reefs. The diving spots are Cool Shark Reef, Aravind’s Wall, Temple Reef, 4 Corners, Ravines and The Hole.

Hope this article is able to shed light on scuba diving as a professional service and the scuba diving places in India. Let me know your thoughts and leave your blog urls for me to check out.

Who doesn't love handmade or curated things? After being introduced to natural skincare, I know how much efforts go into handmade things.
