SoapWorks India Chocolate Fudge - Cocoa Butter Review

Today am reviewing the SoapWorks India soap. I received them a few days back but couldn't review them as I hadn't clicked the pics. After using so many handmade soaps I have started to hate commercial soaps. Let's hop onto the review to see how the soap fairs on its claims.
Ingredients Made with the goodness of Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Cocoa Butter, Cocoa Powder, Real Chocolate & Essential Oil.

My Experience
The soap is just like a chocolate fudge and smells amazing. The fragrance is totally out of the world and is just like chocolate. The fragrance is great and non bothering and non lingering at the same time. You can smell the fragrance by smelling your hands, I did the same as I was totally floored by the fragrance.
The soap is dark chocolate coloured wrapped in a plastic coating. It would be great if the soap is packaged in  cardboard packaging since that would just help any direct damage to the soap.
Now the business part, the soap performs its job very effectively and efficiently. The soap has a frothy foam unlike commercial soaps. The foam gets washed off easily. The soap makes the skin soft and smooth post usage. Although it doesn't give any silky feeling to the skin. I also use handmade soaps on my face and this soap wasn't an exception. The skin feels fresh and clean after using the soap. The soap didn't dry out the skin and you may also skip the moisturization. But due to my habit I did :D.
The soap needs to be thoroughly dried before storage else you will end up wasting it in the gooey form.
The In
  • Amazing fragrance which is non bothering and non lingering
  • Frothy foam which gets washed off easily without drying the skin
  • Performs its job well
  • Makes the skin smooth and soft
  • Contains cocoa butter, Cocoa Powder and real chocolate
  • After using the soap you may skip moisturiser if you have normal skin
The Out
  • Outer cardboard packaging would be preferable to prevent damage to the soap
Price and Shelf Life - 183 INR for 120gms and shelf life not mentioned.
I would highly recommend the SoapWorks India Chocolate fudge soap due to its effectiveness. The soap has cocoa in the form of cocoa butter, Cocoa Powder and real chocolate, which is very beneficial for the skin in the long term. The soap performs its cleansing job quite well and is decently priced. Although like all handmade soaps it leaves gooey residue. But this part can be totally sidelined as the soap is totally worth a try and you will not at all be disappointed.

My friendship Yatra with my bestie

"No yaar, I can't make it, it will be very difficult to take a 3-4 day leave." I said
Rajani just hanged the call without a word. Rajani, my bestie, had been nudging me to take a leave, from the past few weeks. Every time I used to decline, saying I had a project delivery. I simply hated travelling, whereas her, she loved exploring places.
A few weeks passed by and I totally forgot about the holiday gateway which Rajani was planning. One day in the office, I was struggling with a code. No matter what or how I coded it ended up failing. All of a sudden I remembered the trick Rajani had shared with me, without sparing a single second I applied it and Woohoo the functionality was done.

Again, Rajani had come to my rescue. Yes, she was my knight in shining armour. We were family friends before we turned into besties and then eventually soul mates. We shared the same degree college, post graduate college, our first job as well as the same locality in the town. After reminiscing all this, I immediately called her up in the lunch break and expressed my desire for the holiday plan. She was jumping with joy. She promised to arrange everything and asked me to just confirm my leave from my manager. I informed her that I could only afford weekend and no weekday leaves. Still, she agreed :).

Next day she called me up to inform that we will be heading to Goa for the weekend and will be back on Monday early morning. She said, she will check Domestic Airlines for flight tickets, so that we don't waste time in travelling for a long journey. I smiled at myself 'smart gal as always'.
The day dawned and we both met at my place and headed to the airport. After a few hours we were in Goa. I was feeling good, way beyond words could express. A holiday break, after 3 long years of work indeed had made me mechanical. We had switched jobs 3 years back and life was very hectic and mechanical after that. I remembered our first job, yes, we had college placements and we both bagged the same company. Not only the same company, but same department and same team, yayyyyy!!!. Life was so much fun at that time I thought.

After getting ready, we visited some places, shopped and had lunch. We did everything, like free birds. In the evening we sat by the beach side chatting, teasing each other. She told me about her handsome manager and I shared with her the marriage alliances which I had rejected recently. She shared her new found love of arts and crochet and I told her about my blogging interests. We chatted the whole evening. No matter how much we talked and laughed and had fun we were not getting enough of the moment. At one point I just wished I could freeze the moment, but I was surely seizing it, if not freezing.

On Sunday morning I woke up early, and Rajani lazed around as usual. I remembered our good old days. We used to hang out at each others place, study together for exams, travel together to college, we shared all our secrets. But being family friends, we couldn't share our dark secrets. For that we always needed an outing, like this one. I smiled at my half asleep bestie, and she asked me 'what's for breakfast?' I teased her for being a lazy person and made tea for her in the hotel suite.

Rajani had made me realise that we need to relax a bit in between our hectic schedule only to recharge ourselves for our future endeavours. She taught me to live and love life, fully. This time also she had come to my rescue. My knight in shining armour, I thought and smiled at her, as we boarded our return flight to Pune.

From that day onwards I love travelling and exploring places. After all, we all need a break in our fast paced life, to rejuvenate ourself for our future endeavours

So that was my travel Yatra with my bestie. Do you have a similar bestie, share with me in the comments section below.

Amara Organix Soaps Review

I have reviewed Amara Organix Body Butter, Bodywash and lotion earlier. Today am going to review the soaps by the brand. I received Lavender soap and Raktachandan soap for review. Let's hop on to the review as the brand claims are not there by the brand.

The soaps are packaged in a transparent sheet with th brand label and a cute satin lace tied up. It would be great if there is a cardboard box to prevent any direct damage to the soaps.

Lavender soap Ingredients
Vegetable glycerin, Coconut oil, Vitamin e, Sodium cocoate, Purified distilled water, Lavender essential oil

Raktachandan soap Ingredients
Veg glycerin, Coconut oil, Vitamin E, Sodium cocoate, Purified distilled water, Raktachandan extract ( red sandalwood extract), Sandalwood oil

My experience
The fragrance of Lavender soap is amazing and the colour of the soap is lavender. The fragrance of Rakta Chandan soap is similar to that of the actual Rakta Chandan stick. The colour is also dark red.
The fragrance of both the soaps is not at all lingering and bothering. Else some soaps have strong fragrance which lingers and we feel like we still are in the shower :P.

The soaps lather quite well and are not at all drying for the skin. The lather is foamy and a bit bubbly. The soaps are more sort of glycerin rather than milky. The skin is squeaky clean, soft and fresh post usage of the soaps. I particularly like the lavender soap more than the Rakta Chandan variant. The soaps like other handmade soaps lead to wastage when not dried properly or used directly under the stream of water. But as long as the product has no harmful fillers, that's not a problem for me.

The In
  • Handmade soaps without fillers
  • Foam quite well
  • Doesn't dry out the skin
  • Make skin smooth and soft post use
  • Contain the goodness of Lavender and Raktachandan in respective soaps

The Out
  • May lead to wastage when used under direct stream
  • Cardboard outer packaging
Price, shelf life and availability - Lavender - 120 INR for 100g and Rakta Chandan 150 INR for 100g and available on Facebook page of Amara Organix

I would totally recommend the soaps from Amara Organix as they don't have harmful fillers unlike commercial soaps. The soaps perform their job well and are decently priced. Soaps last longer if kept away from direct stream of water. Else leads to wastage. Overall barring this point the soaps are totally worth the price at which they are offered.

Tell me your thoughts :)

DIY Walnut Honey Body Scrub

Hola friends,

I am sharing an amazing, easy DIY which you can try at home easily. For body scrub we don't need a delicate scrub but at the same time it shouldn't be too harsh. I have a body butter which I forget to use and in summers it's already sweating so we cannot use heavy body butters.

Today's body scrub is easy, peasy all you need to buy is a walnut powder and honey. Let's start with the procedure and ingredients.

  • Body butter (any one which you prefer I have used Amara Organix Body Butter)
  • Walnut powder (from soapytwist.com)
  • Sugar, preferably brown, though I have used white
  • Honey
  • Lemon, rose petals and essential oils (optional but I haven't used.)
  • Container (I have used Ma Earth Botanicals Rose Facial Scrub empty container)

1) Take 2 tbsp sugar and hand pound it with something to make the granules small.

2) Add 2 tbsp body butter.

3) Mix the sugar and body butter with spoon and keep on a double boiler for some time. Till the body butter melts a bit.

4) Take off from double boiler and let it cool down.

5) Add 1/2 tbsp honey and mix well.

6) Add some walnut powder and mix well.

7) Add 1/4 tbsp lemon juice, essential oils and rose petals (Rose petals need to be grounded a bit). This is a totally optional step.

8) Pour it in a container and refrigerate. Use as and when required
1) Walnut honet body scrub is a DIY and not all natural product.
2) Shelf life may depend on lemon juice content so refrigeration is a must.
3) Add honey when mixture is cooled, please don't heat the honey

SoapWorks Shea Butter Lip Balm - Honey Kisses Review

I have reviewed the SoapWorks India Shea Butter Lip Balm - Butter Cream. The lip balm also is available in another variant and that is Honey Kisses variant. This lip balm is a little bit different than the one previously reviewed. Let's see the lip balm review.

My experience
The lip balm is honey coloured and is creamy in nature. It glides well on the lips and intensely moisturizes and hydrates the lips. The lip balm fragrance is out of the world and is very sweet. It smells exactly as honey and as soon as you put it on your lips you feel like taking a bite :).

Now coming to the effects, the lip balm sufficiently hydrates the lips for 7 hours without reapplication . After 7 hours the lips are smooth, soft and hydrated. But alas if you are a lip balm addict you will definitely feel a need to reapply.

Overlooking the twist down mechanism failure, the lip balm does an excellent job and lives true upon its claims of lightening the lip colour. I have used it for 10 days straight and it has shown slow effects on my pigmented lips.

The In
  • Intense hydrating and moisturizing effects for the lips
  • Amazing honey aroma
  • Stick packaging inspite of being a handmade lip balm
  • Free from artifical colour, fragrance as well as preservatives
  • Lives true upto its claims
  • Contains shea butter, honey, beeswax
  • Hydrates the lips for 7 hours and I didn't feel the need for reapplication

The Out
  • The twist down mechanism fails to work after using for some days
Price and Shelf life - 240 INR for 5 gms and shelf life not mentioned

I would highly recommend the SoapWorks India Shea Butter Lip Balm - Honey Kisses lip balm for its hydrating and moisturizing effects. The lip balm also claims to lighten the lip colour, although it is a bit slow, but lives upto the claims. Contains lip friendly ingredients sans chemicals. Overall an excellent lip balm worth every penny. I would personally prefer Honey Kisses variant over Butter Cream.

Ethicare Remedies Uvmed Tinted Sunscreen Gel Review

I usually forget to use sunscreen hence don't end up buying new ones yo try out. So when I received the Ethicare Remedies UVmed sunscreen gel I was excited to try it out. My hands are okay sort tanned, as there is hardly any tan visible. But my feet, they are badly tanned. So then I thought of testing the Ethicare Remedies UVmed sunscreen and today's review is how it faired on its claims. By the way the sunscreen has also been tested by my husband :)

Brand claims
-Uvmed provides 50 times more protection from sunburn, as it has been produced by special ingredients and unique formula.
-Uvmed protect the skin form UVA I, UVA II and UVB.
-Uvmed has oil free formula so it is ideal for oily, acne prone skin.
-Regular use of Uvmed helps in preventing any type of skin damage done by UV rays.
-It also prevents darkening of skin, sunburn, premature ageing.
-Uvmed is useful for both indoor and outdoor and it can be used in any season.
-It does not contain any colourant or perfume that may cause allergic effects.

My experience
Firstly I like the attractive bright yellow coloured packaging. Also the packaging size is very travel friendly. The packaging is flip cap tube and the product doesn't easily dispense out from the tube. This is a good thing indeed as instead of wasting the product I would prefer waiting for it to dispense :D.

The product is peachy orange in colour and its fragrance is an amazing floral sort scent. I was truly amazed by its fragrance as it is sweet as well as addictive. The fragrance is non lingering and non bothering. I am particularly fond of the fragrance.
The sunscreen is light weight and not at all heavy on skin. It gets absorbed easily and quickly in the skin. This point my husband has specially told me to mention as he like the fact that it gets absorbed as compared to other sunscreens he has used.

The sunscreen doesn't leave a oily residue on skin rather it gives a nice sheen to the skin, and you don't even need moisturization post application. The sunscreen doesn't even leave a white cast which I had earlier experienced with sunscreen from another brand.

The tanning of my feet has reduced a little bit. Regular usage has shown some considerable effects on my husband's hands. I sometimes forget to use it and hence can only say that regular usage will surley show effects as that is the case with my husband.

The In
  • Paraben free, artificial fragrance free Has SPF 50 UVA protection
  • Travel friendly size and packaging
  • Amazing floral scent
  • Non bothering and non lingering fragance
  • Gets absorbed easily
  • Doesn't leave a white cast
  • Non oily, non greasy texture which spreads easily
  • Can be used on top of moisturizer
  • Doesn't make skin greasy or oily even when used on top of moisturizer
The Out
  • Nothing
Price and shelf life - 349 INR for 50 ml with a shelf life of 3 years

Recommendation -
I would totally recommend the Uvmed Sunscreen Gel for one and all as my husband uses it too has seen considerable difference in the tanning effect. It is a great option to try out for outdoors as well as indoors. The fact that it is not greasy or oily makes it more lovable and the fragrance adds up the pro for the product. Highly recommended if you are a regular sunscreen user.

SoapWorks India Luscious Lip Scrub - Juicy Strawberry Review

I hardly ever exfoliate my lips for which I use my extra soft (unused) toothbrush. Many lipstick lovers are fond of lip scrubs. Today's review is of one such lip scrub which is totally edible and works great also. Read the review of SoapWorks Luscious Lip Scrub - Juicy Strawberry

Organic honey, organic sugar, sweet almond oil and Shea butter

My experience
The product has been tasted as well as tested by me :P. First things first, the product is all natural sans artificial colours and fragrance. It doesn't contain any chemicals for preservation. The lip scrub performs its job well and exfoliates the lips gently (as long as you don't scrub vigorously). The lips are left behind with a pink hint and softness.

The product is packaged in a metal tin which is sleek as well as small in size. This makes it very travel friendly. The lip scrub is pink in colour with a sweet strawberry scent.

The fragrance is amazing and as soon as you use it on your lips you will be tempted to eat it. Mark my words, you will eat it even before using it. Since the product is all natural it is totally edible. Overall a good option to try out if you are looking for a luxurious buy for lip scrub.

The In
  • Made from all natural ingredients
  • Performs exfoliating task effectively
  • Leaves the lips soft and pink
  • Totally edible so hassle free product
  • Quantity required is very less so product lasts longer
  • Travel friendly small package
  • Comes in another variant also
  • Mesmerising sweet strawberry scent
  • The sugar granules are small in size and thus don't hurt the lips

The Out
  • A bit costly, instead I would love trying a DIY

Price and Shelf life - 344 INR and shelf life not mentioned

As a lip scrub product it works great and is a highly recommended product for its effectiveness and naturalness. But I think for a lip scrub the price would be a little high as it is totally DIYable :). Though the product is worth buying for its effectiveness. If you are in for luxurious lip scrub then you must definitely go in for SoapWorks Luscious Lip Scrub.

SoapWorks Shea Butter Lip Balm - Butter Cream Review

A girl can never get enough of lip balms. Today's review is about SoapWorks India Shea Butter Lip Balm - Butter Cream. Let us see how this lip balm fairs and whether it is worth buying or not.

My experience
Firstly I am highly impressed that inspite of being a handmade lip balm it comes in a stick form. This makes the handmade product very hygienic instead of dipping the fingers in the lip balm tub.

The lip balm is cream coloured and when applied it is translucent. The twist cap works well when you twist up but stops working when you twist down the cap, and you need to push the lip balm manually with finger.

The lip balm has a creamy texture and glides very smoothly on the lips. The lip balm intensely moisturizes the lips but with a little bit waxy feeling. The moisturizing effect stays put for about 6 hours. Moreover the lip balm is free from chemicals, tints and artificial fragrance. Overall a highly recommended lip balm.

The In

  • Free from parabens, artificial tints, artificial fragrance
  • Contains all natural ingredients
  • Inspite of being a handmade lip balm comes in a twist up packaging
  • Moisturizes lips for 6 hours
  • Heals dry and chapped lips from first use itself
  • Quantity offered is great at the current price
  • Inspite of being a handmade lip balm it is packaged in twist cap

The Out
  • The twist down mechanism fails to work after some usage

Price and Shelf life - 240 INR for 5 gms and shelf life not mentioned

I would totally recommend the SoapWorks India Shea Butter Lip Balm - Butter Cream as it is free from chemicals and artificial colourants. Moreover the product has all skin friendly ingredients and the packaging is also twist up mechanism which most handmade lip balms lack. I am head over heels with the butter variant and have also tasted it....

Ethicare Remedies Caladew Soothing And Calamine Lotion Review

As soon as I head out in the sun my back starts itching like hell. It just starts burning somehow. I feel like putting ice onto it. I usually avoid going outside in peak sun hours. But still sometimes I have to. And then Caladew Soothing And Calamine Lotion from Ethicare Remedies came to my rescue.

Brand claims
Caladew lotion, with its balanced formulation, offers soothing-cooling action and gives relief in skin condition like prickly heat, insect bites, itching, sunburn, nappy rash etc. Use 2 to 3 times daily for best results. Zinc oxide is used to heal the skin and offers mild sunscreen action. Caladew has Excellent spread ability. It offers instant cooling effect.

Kaolin, Zinc oxide, Cucumber extract, Aloevera, Silicon oil, Glycerine

My experience
The Caladew lotion is a tube packaging which is a cute pink one. It is very travel friendly packaging as well as size. The lotion is peachy pink in colour with a little more runny consistency. This makes the tube dispense sone extra product as it runs out even without squeezing the tube.
The calamine lotion is very soothing and provides some amounts of coverage to the skin. The colour of the lotion is responsible for this though. The lotion spreads easily on the skin and takes some time to get absorbed in the skin.

The lotion gives an instant cooling and calming effect. Being a calamine lotion it is also supposed to heal itchiness, red spots, prickly heat and the product just effectively does its job.

I have used the lotion on prickly heat affected areas of my body and it has reduced the redness and itchiness over a period of time.

The In
  • Effectively heals itchiness, redness of skin
  • Reduces itching of prickly heat
  • Provides a cool and calm effect to the skin
  • Provides some amount of coverage
The Out
  • No full ingredients list
  • Very runny consistency
Price and Shelf life - 99 INR for 75ml with a shelf life of 3 years

I would highly recommend the product to tackle the prickly heat as it has helped me tackle mine. Sumer is at its peak and this is all you need to reduce the itchiness of the skin.

Tell me your favourite lotion which tackles prickly heat .

Ethicare Remedies Acmed Face Wash Review

I love products which are of acne-prone skin category and at the same time live upto their claims. Very few products work as they claim. Acne-prone skin needs a lot of attention, time and patience. Let's see how the Acmed Face wash lives upto its claims.

Brand claims Acmed face wash is used to cure acne which cleanses excess oil, dirt and dead skin. Tea tree oil used in Acmed ensures anti-bacterial action against bacteria common to pimple prone skin. Acmed also has a breakthrough innovation like pimple care globules that you can actually see penetrating in your skin while you wash your face, ensuring proper delivery of pimple care active ingredients.

My experience with Acmed Face Wash

The packaging is very sleek and stylish with a transparent tube packaging. The tube is a little lengthy compared to normal facewash packaging. I like the fact that the packaging is transparent, since it makes the see through possible. The facewash has purple coloured globules in it and the facewash itself is transparent coloured. The facewash has a strong floral scent which fades away after using it.

The facewash does an amazing job of cleansing the skin without stripping the oil. It does removed the excess oil but mildly. The facewash leaves the skin smooth and soft post usage. The facewash controls oil to a certain extent say about 6-7 hours. After that we feel the need to again wash our face. The facewash foams quite well and a very small quantity is required each time, so the product really lasts longer. The facewash gets washed off easily leaving behind a faint floral scent.

Overall the facewash does a great job of removing dirt, oil and controlling the secretion. Regarding pimple prevention I cannot say much as I had just same zits which faded away due to Akmasq Pimple Care Complexion Mask. But it will surely control any further breakouts.

The In
  • Leaves the skin smooth and soft
  • Doesn't dry out the skin
  • Transparent packaging makes see through of product quantity easy
  • Attractive packaging
  • Attractive and sleek packaging which is travel friendly as well
  • Contains tea tree oil
  • Controls oil secretion to an extent
  • Will suit all skin types

The Out
  • No full ingredients list mentioned
Price and Shelf life - 165 INR for 70 g with a shelf life of 3 years

Availability Buy on Ethicare Remedies website

Recommendation of Acmed Face Wash

I would totally recommend the facewash if you have oily and acne-prone skin. It controls oil secretion and cleansing excess oil without drying out the skin, It leaves the skin, smooth and Oil free. Plus the facewash quantity needed for eash use is very less and so the product lasts longer. The product is a great commodity for the price offered.

Amara Organix Body wash Review

Today we will be reviewing Amara Organix Body wash which is pearly coloured. I love using bodywashes once in a while when am bored of soaps. Let's head on to the review to see what all I didn't like in this particular bodywash.

Vegetable glycerin, Xanthan gum, Vitamin E, Tea tree oil, Coconut derivatives, Jojoba oil, Rose hydrosol, Bergamot EO

My experience
Firstly let's talk about the packaging and the fragrance. The packaging is flip cap and flat bottle packaging which is travel friendly and sleek. The bodywash is pearly white in nature. The consistency of the body wash is runny which makes product dispensing easy. The fragrance of the body wash is very synthetic and is like a glue or gum. You can feel the synthetic fragrance as soon as you open the bottle and when you apply the bodywash. As soon as the body wash foams the fragrance fades away. But I have a complaint about the fragrance.

The body wash foams quite well and cleanses the skin gently. It removes any oiliness and dirt from the body. The body wash is not at all drying and gets washed off easily. The body wash leaves a silky feeling while getting washed off.

When used with a loofah it foams quite well. The body wash is overall a good option to try out sans the synthetic fragrance. Plus I would also love if the body wash is coloured instead of white colour. Pearly white looks too boring for a body wash :D.

The In
  • Sleek and travel friendly packaging
  • Foams and cleanses well
  • Gets washed off easily
  • Is not at all drying for the skin
  • Leaves a silky, smooth feeling post wash

The Out
  • The fragrance is a big thumb down from me

Price and Shelf life - 180 INR for 100ml with a shelf life of 6 months

Availability - Available for order on Amara Organix Facebook page, email and WhatsApp.

I would recommend the Amara Organix Body wash if only it's fragrance and colour is good. Otherwise the body wash performs its job well without any complaints. It is meant for normal skin and hence it doesn't dry out the skin at all. Triable option sans the fragrance.
