Amara Organix Deep Moisturising Lotion Review

Let's see another review of the emerging brand Amara Organix and how it fairs on the name Deep Moisturising Lotion. The product doesn't have any brand claims so let's directly get started with the review.

Ingredients
Shea butter, Argan oil, Tamanu oil, Rose ship seed oil, Jojoba oil, Aloe Vera, Ylang Ylang hydrosol, Rose extracts, Veg glycerin, Lavender Essential Oil

My experience
Firstly I loved the plastic pump packaging and the pump just dispenses the right amount of product with ease. The size is, non travel friendly though. I really hope they also have a small package available.

Now coming to the consistency of the lotion it is very runny. I don't know because of the weather or something else. The lotion smells just normal like soap or some raw material fragrance which has overpowered the fragrance. Am unable to explain the exact fragrance. It is surely free of chemical and artificial fragrance but. The fragrance doesn't linger much and is not bothering unless applied in case.

Now coming to the business part, I would really call this lotion a summer lotion. In summers we need just a little bit of moisturizing without much oiliness. Th lotion does the same, even if the name says Deep moisturizing lotion. The lotion takes a while to get fully absorbed into the skin. After getting absorbed we don't feel any oiliness, stickiness and greasy feeling. The skin looks a little bit shiny. But considering the fact that this lotion is free of chemicals I would not mind reapplication. Overall at such a decent price the product does a good job.

The In

  • Perfect for summers
  • Non-oily, non-greasy feeling post application
  • Pump packaging
  • No chemicals
  • Parabens and synthetic fragrance free
  • Fairly priced
  • Suitable to normal skinned people.

The Out
  • Very runny consistency
  • Takes a while to get fully absorbed
  • Reapplication needed for dry skin
  • May not suit winters
  • Some may not find the fragrance pleasing.

Price and Shelf life - 350 INR for 200 ml with a shelf life of 6 months

Availability - Orders can be placed via FB, email and WhatsApp.

Recommendation
I would highly recommend it as a summer moisturizer even if it says deep moisturizing lotion. It is nonsticky, non-greasy and non oily and light weight. Plus no chemicals is an added advantage. It is very fairly priced also. But dry skinned beauties may need reapplication and the lotion may not be suitable for winters.

Foodaholic 3D Aloe Natural Essence Mask Review

Hey gals am back with another mask review. Everytime I use these masks I feel heavenly and at the same time am taken aback by the advancements in skincare. The Foodaholic Aloe Natural Essence Mask is very promising and delivers for what it is designed. Read the review to know more.

Brand claims and Ingredients

My experience
The mask packaging is very travel friendly and sleek. The mask fits quite okay as we need a few folds here and there. Firstly I would like to tell that the mask has abundant essence, so much so that it was dripping from face at the chin. I somehow managed a few minutes and then wiped the excess with cotton.

The essence of this mask is very thick as compared to the Four Season masks. The essence smells exactly of fresh aloe gel and the thick consistency made me more think of that. The essence gets absorbed easily. After removing the mask I let the essence dry up on my face. I rinsed the essence once it dried up as I felt like I had put on a gel mask.
Post application the skin feels fresh, smooth, silly and soft. The mask gives a subtle temporary glow which lasts around 1 hour. I really liked this face mask as compared to the Four Season Series because of the thick essence.

The In
  • Makes the skin smooth and silky
  • Plumps up the skin a little
  • Gives a subtle temporary glow
  • Travel friendly and sleek packaging
  • Budget friendly
  • Contains skin friendly ingredient aloevera

The Out
  • I didn't find any.

Price and Shelf life - $1.50 and only expiry date is provided.

Availability - Available on Skin18.com

Recommendation - I would totally recommend Foodaholic Aloe Natural Essence Mask as it is truly food for skin. It directly provides the skin much needed nourishment via the essence. A must try if you are Korean skincare fan.

Amara Silky Shea and Cocoa Body Butter Review

Body butters are every skincare addicts delight. Today we will be talking about the Amara Organix Body Butter. The brand is a new emerging brand so they don't have brand claims and all but they surely have ingredients list and proper packaging with brand labels.

Ingredients
Shea butter, Cocoa butter, Avocado oil, Vitamin E, Silk protein, Frankincense essential oil, Lavender essential oil

My experience
The packaging is simple tub packaging with a glass tub and plastic cap. The tub is not heavy but may not be travel friendly although the size is very travel friendly. I usually avoid glass packaging during travel. The cap easily opens and fixes also.

The body butter has amazing fragrance which is a subtle raw materials fragrance and which shows that there are no added fragrances. The fragrance is not at all bothering and lingers mildly.

The body butter is thick but with a little fluffy consistency. Maybe because of the hot weather conditions of Bangalore the butter has such consistency. To test it I kept it in fridge for one day and it was like normal butter, thick and good consistency.

Now coming to the effects of the product. The butter is not heavy as normal body butters. But it sufficiently moisturizes the skin without any sticky feeling. The body butter is non greasy as well as non oily. It gets absorbed in the skin easily and quickly moisturizes the skin. I didn't feel the need to reapply as my skin wasn't parched of moisture but it wasn't even in the same condition of immediate body butter application.

The body butter may not be suitable for very dry skin as well as in winters. But we cannot ignore the fact that most store bought body butters are laden with chemicals and this body butter is sans any chemicals, parabens and artificial fragrance. If you are looking for affordable body butter then Amara Organix Body Butter would be the answer.

Before and after.

The In
  • Sufficiently moisturizes the skin
  • Non greasy, non-oily feeling post application
  • More suitable for summers
  • Travel friendly size
  • Gets easily absorbed in skin
  • Attractive packaging
  • Chemical and paraben free
  • Artifical fragrance free
  • Affordable price
  • Product is value for price
  • Non lingering fragrance

The Out
  • Reapplication needed for very dry skin
Price and Shelf life - 250 INR for 100 gms with a shelf life of 6 months

Availability -Orders can be placed via FB, email and WhatsApp.

Recommendation
I would totally recommend the Amara Organix Body Butter as it is chemicals, parabens free and artificial fragrance free. The product is decently priced for the job it does. It is perfect for summers and moisturizes sufficiently.

NB - product sent by brand for review. Honest review.

Organic Trends: Beauty Guide

Lately people are giving more importance to the “green” lifestyle, and though at first it only involved food, today that trend is spreading to a number of other life aspects, including clothing, architecture, cleaning products and beauty industry. In this last aspect, going green is even more important than in the other ones, because what we apply to our skin is absorbed into our organism in certain measure, and thus, it can harm our health. With the growing number of organic beauty products manufacturers and increases in demand for organic cosmetics, we can see many revolutionary changes in this type of industry, which are additionally improving the organic beauty lines and making them more appealing and available.

Refreshing Summer drinks (fruits)

Summers are in full swing this year in India , thanks to the pollution and urbanisation. Bangalore has already beat Chennai in terms of temperature. I still remember how cool bangalore felt when I made it my home 5 years back (enough of nostalgia).

One way of beating the heat is refreshing cool drinks (non-alcoholic). They not only help the body cool down but also improve the health of the skin due to their nutritional values. Let's see some refreshing, easy to make at home drinks with minimum ingredients. For this post I have collaborated with the buttercups Shwetali from Not So Hard To be Pretty and Dipti from Gorgeously Flawed.

Aam panna – made up of cooked raw mangoes and jaggery it is an ideal summer drink. It helps in keeping the body cool. Raw mangoes being
rich in vitamin c and iron and jaggery being an ideal glucose source, the panna helps in giving energy lost due to dehydration and sweating.

Watermelon drinks
Watermelon is 98% water and some percentage sucrose. When eaten chilled it gives a heavenly feeling to the senses.

Watermelon and mint
Watermelon juice when blended with few mint leaves makes an excellent change to the drink.

Watermelon and gulkand
Watermelon when added with a spoonful of gulkand gives the necessary sweetness and adds a subtle rose flavour to it.

Watermelon and lemon drink
Watermelon juice alongwith a little lemon juice gives a lemony flavour to the drink.

Pineapple
Pineapple, apple and strawberries when blended together make a tangy drink.

Another drink which I have already posted is
Coffee toppled with grated chocolate

I usually refrain from adding sugar, salt, chaat masala to the above drinks, but you can add them according to your taste. Please avoid drinking colas and readymade juices because you are harming the body instead of helping it.

So hope you all enjoy the drinks and beat the summer heat. Also don't forget to take extra care of your skin. And don't forget to checkout Shwetali's and Dipti's posts.

Tell me your favourite drinks (non-Al....)!!!

Amara Organix - Naturally fabulous

Amara Organix is a brain child of Mehar from Chennai, India. Amara means eternal beauty in Arabic. Mehar the face behind the brand chose this name as it is apt for her concept of natural beauty through natural products.

Being a fashion designer by profession, a decade in retail was enough to make her feel drained out. Retail being a thankless job and gives you very less time for your family or social life. Hence last year Mehar decided to quit her job of hectic schedule so as to give time to family.
While at home, she had a lot of time at her hands and so wanted to do something constructive and creative. Surprisingly she started giving more attention to skincare and the products which were being used by her. She subsequently realised that she was bombarding herself with chemicals from morning till night.

She slowly developed interest in natural skincare and started researching the topic. Her keen interest in natural remedies led her to take classes in aromatherapy and soap making. Initially she started by making soaps. Later on she realised that handmade soaps don't strip you of your natural body oils and also help in healing skin conditions.

She started making soaps for acne and tanning and slowly started making soaps for all types of skin irritations and conditions. From soaps she moved onto creams, body lotions, haircare and the whole gamut of products.

Today she can proudly state that she neither uses any chemicals on her skin nor allows her friends and family members to do the same. She makes everything which covers up skincare from skinsafe to natural oils to essential oils to minerals and extracts, from facial powders to body care lotions, from shampoos to organic nourishing conditioners. Mehar truly believes in safe skincare and Amara Organix is the proof of her belief.

It was initially a huge challenge for her to acquire raw materials and ingredients. Moreover packaging was a big concer. But slowly she has been able to acquire the best of ingredients from all around the globe. Mehar likes to source ingredients from their genuine point of origin to keep them as pure as possible. But packaging still is a challenge for all the small ventures out there. None of the manufacturers want to sell at lesser quantities which makes it very difficult for them to procure the packaging.

Mehar feels happy to be a part of the natural revolution and would love to keep making such lovely products for years to come. Amara is not her business but a passion, which gets fuelled everyday at her studio concocting an Alchemy of healing potions.

Nose strips from skin18.com Review

If you know me or are following my blog you might know I have oily skin which turns oily-combination in winters. The nose part becomes very oily and I frequently need to give my face a steaming session to get rid of those nasty white heads and black heads (blackheads don't budge although).

Today we will be talking about the nose strips I received from skin18.com. I received three nose strips and I have used them all and am here to tell you whether they are beneficial or not.

Directions for use -
The nose strips are to be used after cleansing and I did the same each time. The nose should be thoroughly wet and then stick the strip. The strip hardens after sometime and slowly it is to be removed.

Let's see one by one the review of the nose strips which I used at a gap of almost 2 - 3 days.

1) Luke Mugwort Nose Cleansing Strip
This is the first one which I tried. It was pale green coloured and smelled very synthetic. It smelled as if some burned paper or plastic. The smell didn't linger much though. I kept the nose strip for about 10 minutes after which I felt a stretchy feeling and i removed the strip. My nose felt a little sticky and after dabbing some water it was all smooth. I rinsed it a bit and applied toner (with the thought that it removes the blackheads and open.pores should be closed :D).
It didn't remove the blackheads but certainly reduced it size( I don't know how). Overall I was happy with the results.

2) Luke Lemon Tea Tree Nose Cleansing Strip
With the lemon tea mentioned in the strip name I expected it to smell like lemon. But to my dismay it smelled like the above strip and the fragrance faded away as soon as I applied the nose strip. This time I kept it for 20 minutes and slowly removed the strip. All my uprooted white heads could be seen on it and my nose was all smooth and evened out. It didn't show any effects on black heads but.
I immediately rinsed my nose (but very little sticky residue was left since the strip had hardened) and applied a toner.

3) Luke Charcoal Nose Cleansing Strip
This strip was black coloured and I followed the usage steps and my nose was free of stubborn whiteheads. As always I applied a toner after the usage. The fragrance of this strip was also synthetic and faded away quickly as soon as I put it on.

Overall I think the strips are a good option when you are in a hurry an don't have time to steam and all. Let's see the in and out of the nose strips.

The In

  • Easy to use, hassle free procedure
  • Travel and budget friendly
  • Uproots stubborn whiteheads
  • Length of the strip is useful for nose adjacent area also
  • Fragance doesn't linger much ( this is a pro for my picky nose).

The Out
  • Very synthetic fragrance
  • Breath of strip would have been a little more
  • Doesn't show any effects on black heads

Recommendation
I would really recommend these nose strips for successful uprooting of white heads. If you frequently steam your face and use blackheads extractors then for a change you can surley try these. It is very effective in uprooting large whiteheads also.
Do try once if you are looking for a change.

Tell me your whitehead removal techniques and your urls...

The Trinket Shop

We all are aware of how women juggle home and work, well some of us also do the same. But can you imagine a CA student juggling her studies and jewellery making. Let's read the story behind The Trinket Shop and Bhagya the face behind it.

Bhagya is doing CA which is one of the tough professional fields and doing finals right now. She has done three years of internship.

She had free time at home and all the studies was making her lose the balance and she wanted some kind of change. Being an art lover since childhood, art, designing, playing with colors are her solace.

So every now and then she started doing some creative stuff starting from beads and youtube watching for how to use silk thread etc. And as days passed by a small box filled with them. She put it as an instagram pic in her personal account. And the response to that came as such a pleasant suprise. There were so many people who appreciated her on that from friends to family members and there were a couple of them who strongly instilled the idea of creating own Facebook page. And that's how The Trinket Shop took birth. Not planned, not out of a vision to have a business, nothing. Just overnight as she created the page... The trinket shop happened.

The name was actually inspired by the love she has for Tinker bell (Disney animation series) as a little kid. Tinker bell - a fairy that uses all unwanted stuff to make something amazing :D

Starting off with just small bead hoop hearings, silk thread jhumkas and The Trinket Shop diversified into long chains, statement jewellery, imitation jewellery etc.

Hopefully she finds herself in the future even dealing with more of teracotta stuff and diversify it as much as possible. She also wants to get hiring options available and have her reach overseas. It was the response that pumped her and the idea of customization and personal touch that makes her love and be inspired to do what she does.

Bhagya's aim is to be a designer and do a lot of customization as it gives the personal touch to the jewellery pieces which she loves and cherishes the most. She also aims to teach young gals/ladies who don't have a very good platform but are very talented. They can help her make the trinkets (given the materials/designs) and in return it would be a good source of second income to them.
Right now she has taught two ladies who help her with the silk thread stuff and she gives most of the money earned from that to them. How sweet!!!! Service back to the society keeps her so very satisfied and as a girl, she strongly believes in the upliftment of women and doing even the smallest thing to do so makes her feel really proud! So she is doing whatever bit she can for that as well. :)
