Three moisturizing lotions which never failed for me

Today am going to talk about the three moisturizing lotions which have never failed for me and probably will never fail for you.

I have dry and rough hand and feet skin. I can never ever miss going out without applying lotion to my hands and feet. I tend to be lazy when it comes to applying lotions at night before sleep. So let us come to the point and talk about the three lotions.

Fuschia Cherry Caramel Lip Balm - Review

Hi folks,

How's the weather treating you? Here it's hot in Bangalore. Today am with a review of Fuschia cheery caramel lip balm. I know am late on this review, but then I just wanted to share my review and tell you all how great the lip balm. Let's get started with the review before I start raving about the product here itself.

Brand claims
Infused with 100% vegetarian and natural ingredients
Shea butter and kokum butter blended with vitamin E provide extra smoothness, moisture and antioxidants
Soothing and subtle fragrance of natural oils.
Formulated to rejuvenate and keep your lips supple.
Free of parabens, petroleum base, artificial tints and synthetic perfumes.

Ingredients
Beeswax, Shea butter, Kokum butter, Castor oil, Jojoba oil, Sesame seed oil, Olive oil, Olivem 900, Caramel flavour, Burnt cane sugar.

My experience
First and foremost the aroma of the lip balm is like a caramel candy or caramel chocolate. The lip balm comes in a small tub sort of package which is very nice and sturdy. The ingredients list and other details regarding the lip balm are accompanied by a small printed paper note (very cute I feel).

The texture of the lip balm is non greasy and creamy. Though colour is visible in tub it's actually translucent in nature and melts when kept on hand for some time. It is very moisturising lip balm and a very small quantity is enough for lips. If you have severe chapped lips or you are using it in winters then overnight application is recommended.
After I applied the lip balm I dint feel the need to apply it for two days as it kept my lips hydrated (I didn't apply lipstick during these 2 days). Some may find the need to use it daily.

The In
  • Very hydrating and moisturizing for lips.
  • Contains beeswax and natural ingredients
  • Translucent so can be blended with lipstick of your choice to give it a tint.
  • Sturdy tub packaging
  • Less quantity is required so goes a long way
  • Travel friendly package due to sturdy and small tub.
The Out
  • Little bit pricey (only little bit)
Price - 225 INR for 8 gms

Shelf life - 30 months from date of manufacture.

Availability - Available on Vkare website as well as major shopping portals.

Overall thoughts
It a really nice lip balm for moisturising the lips especially in winters. It can be blended with lipstick for a tinted effect. Sturdy tub makes it travel friendly and doesn't crack on dropping (accidentally dropped a few times). The product does what it claims and has no false pretence.

Repurchase
A big YES!!!!

Recommendation
Totally totally totally recommended!!!

Tell me if have tried any handmade lip balms or the one which I have reviewed?!

The Glitterbug - Hand crafted jewellery and much more

Hiya folks,

I have immense respect and love for handmade things. Be it beauty products or jewellery. The sheer efforts put in handmade things are beyound our imagination.

Today we have another hand crafted jewellery brand The Glitterbug. Read on to know more about it!!!!

About lady behind the brand
A Mumbaikar by heart now settled in Bangalore after marriage, Anmol completed her Engineering and MBA in Finance. But working in the corporate world didn’t cater to the creative streak in her. So after shifting to Bangalore she decided to start off on her own with the support of her husband

How did The Glitterbug happen?
Anmol started researching online and came across stunning beaded creations by the beaders in USA , and this beaders association is what inspired her to get into handcrafted jewellery designing.

What all is made by The Glitterbug?
The normal perception about handmade jewelry is that it is not classy enough, that it cannot compete with readymade accessories & most importantly it can only be worn with ethnic wear.
Anmol's aim is to design pieces which cater to women of all age groups and for different occasions
Hoops, Dangling earrings, charm bracelets, anklets , necklace sets  made with glass beads, metal as well as semiprecious beads . The Glitterbug also provides an exquisite range of imported European charm bracelets.

How has been The Glitterbug's journey so far?
Each day is a new learning opportunity, at The Glitterbug team  believes in constantly challenging themselves to come up with even better designs to keep their customers hooked & charmed. The Glitterbug recently celebrated it's 1st anniversary and have almost touched 3000 followers on Facebook. Off lately on popular demand they have even started participating in selective exhibitions across Bangalore.

The happiest and most memorable moment with The Glitterbug
Every appreciation they receive from their beloved clients is a new feather in the cap , with the amount of love & support they have received in this short span of time, it's hard for them to pick and choose one special moment.

Any hiccups in the journey and how they were managed?
Customizing jewellery to suit the tastes of women from different cultures & cities is a constant challenge, a challenge they enjoy undertaking. Also just like any other field they face a lot of competition, but as time passes by The Glitterbug is working on setting a benchmark for others to follow.
Future plans
To expand the business more and participate in exhibitions in other cities across India and to have an official Glitterbug website.

Plum Green Tea Pore Cleansing Face Wash Review

Hiya folks,

Today am reviewing Plum Green Tea Pore Cleansing Face Wash. Read on to know more about the product which claims to keep acne in check.

Brand claims of Plum Green Tea Pore Cleansing Face Wash
Helps in managing the acne with this skin renewing glycolic acid and antioxidant rich green tea and mild natural scrub.

Directions for use
Take a little amount, work up in lather on face and rinse off.

Ingredients
Aqua (Water), Sodium Laureth Sulphate, cocamide DEA, cocamidopropyl betaine, glycerin, carbomer, cellulose beads, phenoxyethanol, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf extract, ethylhexylglycerin, glycolic acid, fragrance, FDA approved colours.

My experience
I used it at night before hitting the bed as well as in the morning. The facewash is mildly green coloured, non-greasy with green beads in it. The facewash lathers quite well so a small pea sized quantity is needed for the whole face. My skin felt fresh and clean after using the facewash. It didn't dry out my skin. The facewash gets rinsed easily and didn't feel as though residue is left.

I feel the green beads are unnecessary in the face wash, as they do not provide any exfoliation to the skin as such. Although they do melt and lather if rubbed on the hand.

The packaging is travel friendly with flip cap tube. The facewash contains small green granules which get foamed and help in cleansing. The ingredient list clearly mentions SLES. I experienced fewer breakouts while using this facewash. This face wash is also good as a second step in double cleansing. Little goes a long way with this face wash so the product lasts longer than thought.

The In
  • Small quantity is enough for whole face
  • Contains glycolic acid, green tea which is antioxidant rich
  • Doesn't contain parabens, propylene glycol, phthalates, DEA and PABA
  • Lathers quite well (even in hard water)
  • Gets rinsed off easily
  • Doesn't dry out the skin unless used excessively
  • Mildly fragrant
  • Travel friendly package
  • Product is worth the money if you love splurging  :(

The Out
  • The quantify offered according to the price.
  • Bit pricey

Price, Shelf life and Availability- 345 INR for 75 ml with a shelf life of 2 years from date of manufacture. Available online on Plum website, Flipkart and Amazon

Overall thoughts
A great facewash which doesn't dry out the skin and lathers really well. Contains antioxidant and doesn't have nasty chemicals. It is a great facwash to keep sebum secretion in check as I found my oily skin pretty fresh with regular usage.
Repurchase and Recommend - Repurchase nope, but totally recommended!!

Plum Green Tea alcohol-free toner Review

We all know green tea is a great antioxidant. So imagine a toner with green tea extracts. Today I will be reviewing a product which gives the benefits of green tea extract, that is Plum Green Tea alcohol-free toner. Read on to know whether the product is effective or not!

Brand claims
Best selling alcohol-free toner astringent toner. Make this an essential part of your skin care refiner for clear, smooth, well toned skin.

Directions for use
Take a little toner on cotton and dab on face. Do not rub.

Ingredients
Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf extracts, Phenoxyethanol, Glycolic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, FDA approved colours and fragrances.

My experience
This is the first time am using alcohol free toner!! I used it after I cleaned my face with a cleansing milk. I took a little amount of toner and dabbed all over my face. The toner is transparent in colour with a strong smell of green tea and added fragrances.

The toner comes with a press button cap and dispenses a little extra toner if the bottle is tilted more. My skin felt instantly fresh after the use and experienced a little tingling sensation. This might be due to the glycolic acid in the toner. I have a love and hate relationship with this toner. The day I get a breakout I blame the toner. When I don't get any acne I praise the toner. Basically the glycolic acid brings the deep seated comedogens to the surface and helps in getting clear skin. Do not rub the toner on your face, just swipe gently on face. I would suggest sensitive skin types to stay away from the product.

The fragrance is the only thing which I didn't like about the toner. It's a little strong and lingered for around one and half hour after use. Other than this I find the product good.

The In
  • Contains glycolic acid, green tea
  • Doesn't dry out the skin
  • Helps in reducing the pore size
  • Free from parabens, propylene glycol, phthalates, SLS, DEA and PABA
  • Cleans the residue of cleaning milk
  • Alcohol free, Vegan product
  • Travel friendly packaging

The Out
  • I personally didn't like the fragrance, for others this may not be a problem.

Price, Shelf life and Availability- 380 INR for 200 ml with a shelf life of 2 years from date of manufacture. Available online at Plum website, Flipkart and Amazon.

Overall thoughts
The toner does an good job in tightening of the pores. It has reduced the size of my pores after multiple usage of the product. Moreover it comes with the goodness of green tea, a great antioxidant. Overall the toner is good toner for oily skin, just sans the fragrance (for me that was the problem)

Repurchase and Recommend - Yes!

Omved Deep Facial Cleanser Review

Hiya folks,

Today I will be reviewing a natural beauty product which is free from chemicals and smells like a typical ayurvedic product.

About Omved
Omved is a brand which makes safe and gentle to use beauty products. The products are vegan, not tested on animals, organic and biodegradable.

Brand claims
A clarifying formula that effectively cleanses environmental pollutants, make up, dirt and grime.
*Bergamot refreshes by improving circulation
*Astringent manjistha rejuvenates and deep cleanses
Skin type- Suitable for normal to oily skin

Directions for use
Wet face, gently apply in upward circular motion, rinse well and moisturize.

Ingredients
DM Water, Caprylyl/capryl glucoside, extracts of manjistha and shatavari, glycerin, aloe vera juice, aritha extract, d-panthanol, xanthan gum, salicylic acid, sodium benzoate, oils of cedarwood, cypress, coriander, bergamot.

My experience
This is the first time I have used Omved product and am really happy with the results. The product effectively removes dirt and oil from face. Though the brand doesn't claim to remove oil from face but does a decent job in doing so. I used the product in the morning as well as at night for around 1 week. It really makes the skin feel hydrated and fresh.
The packaging is simple with a pump dispenser that works really good and ejects adequate amount of product for usage. The cleanser is very light-brown color and texture is light and non-greasy. 3 pumps were enough for my entire face. The aroma is herbal and I personally did not like the fragrance. Cleanser lathers well and makes the face feel clean. The cleanser does a decent job in removing makeup. It gently cleanses the skin without making it dry.

 The In
  • Pump packaging gives right amount for usage
  • Contains no sulphates, parabens, silicones
  • Doesn't dry out the skin
  • Removes excess oil, dirt and grime
  • Makes skin feel clean and fresh.
  • Gets rinsed off quite easily.
The Out
  • Didn't like the herbal aroma (it doesn't linger much though, this can be fine with others)
  • Not travel friendly packaging as the cap comes out easily.

Price, Shelf life and Availability - 590 INR for 100 ml with shelf life of  2.5 years from date of manufacture. Available online as well as Omved stores

Overall thoughts
It is a mild cleanser which cleanses face without drying out the skin. Quantity needed for usage is also less so that is a plus point again.... Moreover it doesn't contain harmful chemicals and is totally safe. It is a great option to try out for daily use. Highly recommended.
Repurchase - Yes

Pond's white beauty Pearl Cleansing Gel Review

Hi girls,

I just grabbed the product from a local store just because of the cute pink packaging. I have always been a fan of Ponds products especially the cold cream and body lotion. I am not very fond of the products that claim to give fairness as I believe true beauty is not measured by the skin colour. Enough of philosophy now, read on to know more about the product review.

Brand claims
A burst of fairness and freshness from Pearl Cleansing Gel by Ponds white beauty.
Infused with Pearl Essence known to give glowing, fair skin.
Oxy-Gel Formula- Refreshing foamy lather that effectively removes oil and dirt from deep down without making the skin feel dry.

Recommended use
Wet face and take a small amount of gel on palm and rub with water until foamy. Gently massage onto the face,  then rinse off thoroughly.

My experience
I have fair and oily skin. So I thought of giving the product a try as it claims not drying of the skin.
I used the product in the morning. It lathers quite well and a very small quantity is enough for the whole face to use. Unlike the cute pink colour packaging, the gel is transparent in colour. After a little bit of rubbing on face, I rinsed it off. The product gets rinsed off quite easily and you don't feel like residue is left.

It didn't make my skin fair but it did make it feel fresh. Also it didn't dry out the skin. As far as oil and dirt removal are concerned, the product does a decent job. And the fragrance is just Oh So Awesome!!!

The In things
  • Makes the skin feel fresh.
  • Doesn't dry out the skin
  • Hydrates the skin
  • Travel friendly package
  • Lathers quite well
  • Small quantity is enough for the whole face
  • Great fragrance

The Out things
  • Doesn't make the skin fair ( I was not at all concerned with this claim so that's ok for me)
  • Quantity offered according to package is less

Ingredients
Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Glycerin, Acrylates, Copolymer, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Cocamide MEA, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Chloride, Benzophenone-4, BHT,Niacinamide, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Tetrasodium, EDTA, PPG-9, Polysorbate 20, Hydrolyzed Pearl, Perfume, Linalool, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Hexyl Cinnamal, Citronellol, Amy Cinnamal, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, CI 17200.

Price 50 g for 95 INR, 100 g for 165 INR

Shelf life 2 years from date of manufacture

Overall thoughts
A great product if you are just looking for a cleansing gel which doesnt dry out the skin. It doesn't make the skin fair as per the claims though but am ok with it. But instead of cleansing gel I would use a cleansing milk.

Repurchase  Nope!

Have you used this product if yes tell me your experience? Do you prefer cleansing milk over cleansing gel like me?

Posts I loved writing in 6 months of blogging

Let me start writing this post by giving credit to the inspiration behind this post. I was inspired by Nisha Mishra Singh of The Pinktrends when I read her blog post after she completed 6 months of blogging.

All bloggers would agree with me that some posts have a special place in our heart. So today after completing 6 months of (regular) blogging I decided to list some posts which I loved writing. These posts also received many page views as compared to other posts.
Read on if you have missed reading any of these posts.

Chocolate toast
I was bored of regular bread, butter and jam which I usually make when am in a hurry or short of time for breakfast. So I remembered this recipe from an eatery and quickly made it. I am amazed at the way it tastes.

Chocolate Coffee
Being a tea lover I usually don't drink coffee. So I thought of making cold coffee and didn't have chocolate sauce with me. So I just put grated chocolate over the chilled coffee and boom a recipe was born :D

DIY satin lace flowers
I learned making these flowers in school and thought of putting it.up simply for fun. I hadn't imagined these flowers would inspire many of my blog posts.

Gift ideas for husband
Initially I had thought of making a list of 5-7 gift ideas but came up with 10 ideas. I had written this post to help girls find gift ideas as its hard finding a gift for men.

Letter to my lover
I am astonished as to how I have written this post. I specially write like the last two paras.

So these are the posts which have a special place in my heart. I may start this as a series of blog posts as and when years and months pass by.

Do you also like these blog posts?!
