Votre Multi Vitamin and Rejuvenating Night Crème Review

This review is a bit delayed one, since I was travelling during month of February and March. After coming back I had some other products to review and couldn't fully test Votre Multi Vitamin and Rejuvenating Night Crème. But after thoroughly using the crème for one month, regularly, here is my experience.

Brand Claims - Highly restorative night time moisturiser is a blend of natural vitamins and antioxidants, which helps to moisturise and protect the skin. This luxury, moisture rich night crème is clinically proven to help increase cell renewal and assist the skin's natural regeneration process and delay pre mature aging (all skin types)
Special features - this powerful night infusion crème seals in essential vitamins like C, E, K and B6 and minerals for deeply nourished skin. It supports natural cell renewal, improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and smoothes texture, resulting in a beautiful radiant, youthful looking complexion.

Ingredients (only main ingredients given)

My experience
As you can see in the pictures, the product has a luxurious plastic packaging with a black top. The packaging being bulky in size yet light weight, is a bit non travel friendly. The jar has an inner lid to prevent the spillage of the product. The black top signifies usage for night time, as I also have received a day crème of this range and that has a white top. It becomes really easy this way to identify when you have many products or are in a hurry 😁.

The cream is neither thick nor thin in consistency, it is a combination of gel and cream which makes it easy to absorb into the skin. The cream has a light texture altogether. The cream has a slight grey tint to it, which again signifies night time usage 😁. The product required for each usage is very less, as a result the crème will easily last 2-3 months based on quantity used each day.

The crème has a nice floral fragrance with a subtle citrusy hint which lingers a bit after using at night. As stated earlier the crème gets absorbed easily into the skin and leaves no oily residue or sticky feeling. You will feel rejuvenated after using this crème. The crème instantly plumps up the skin and gives an even toned look to the skin, I love such creams. I have been using this crème for one long month regularly and it hasn't disappointed me.

In the morning the skin becomes as soft as baby skin and feels rejuvenated. The crème gives an even toned look to the skin due to it's Uber moisturising properties. Due to regular usage my skin has become radiant and soft. However I feel the crème formula may not be enough for dry skin, as dry skin needs more emollient night cream. The crème didn't break me out or didn't even cause any tingling sensation to my sensitive nose area. Some creams and scrubs give a burning sensation to my nose area and am glad this one is not one of them.

Now, the major concern of all, the high price point 😶.  Considering the high price point I would not say it's a must buy, but if you are looking for a luxurious skin care then do give it a try. I wouldn't however repurchase this one due to high price.

The In

  • Vegan, Non comedogenic, Hypo allergenic
  • Light weight formula gets absorbed quickly
  • Doesn't make skin oily or greasy
  • Makes the skin Uber soft and smooth
  • Gives even toned skin tone
  • Helps in skin rejuvenation while making it radiant
  • PETA Certified, Buav Certified
  • Cruelty free, Paraben free

The Out

  • High price point
  • Only main Ingredients listed
  • Bulky packaging

Price, Shelf life and Availability - 2450 INR for 50 gms with a shelf life of 1 and half year. Available on major shopping portals like here

Recommendation -
Considering the high price point I would not say it's a must buy, but if you are looking for a luxurious skin care then do give it a try. You would definitely have to grab this one if it's on discount. I wouldn't however repurchase this one keeping in mind the price. It will definitely give good results with respect to regular usage.

Handloom Sarees of Chanderi

India has a rich cultural heritage, right from the festivals, food, languages, India is a true example of unity in diversity. According to the regions, the apparels are worn also vary across the country. But one apparel doesn't change and that is a saree, although the style of wearing a saree may change depending on the region.

To top them all, handloom sarees in India have a charm of their own. Basically, a handloom is a machine used for weaving, so a handloom saree is a saree made by weavers on a machine by hand. You can check this video to get an idea of how that's done. Although many types of looms are involved in making a handloom saree.

Source

Handloom sarees is a traditional, ancient textile art of India. Handloom is a family tradition to weavers of India for whom handloom sarees is their bread and butter. Each region of India has a peculiar handloom saree which is unique in terms of the yarn or warps and wefts used for making the saree as well as the design and motifs used. But we will not go deeper into all types of handloom sarees but would rather know more about Chanderi sarees.

Source

Whenever I hear the word handloom the next word that comes to my mind is a saree. As stated earlier, saree has been worn by Indian women since ages and it adds to the beauty of an Indian woman. I remember my Mom's first handloom saree that is a Chanderi saree which was orange in color. Way long back as a kid, I used to believe that since it had a golden zari, it's called Chanderi 😜. Now so many years later I know how dumb I was ☹️.

Source

Chanderi, a town in Madhya Pradesh is known for its handloom sarees, hence the name Chanderi sarees. Handloom sarees from Chanderi are famous for the mix of silk and cotton. Chanderi sarees produced use three kinds of fabrics, pure silk, cotton silk and Chanderi cotton. Before Industrial revolution, weavers used to make Chanderi sarees out of hand spun cotton. After 1930, they discovered Japanese silk which later was inculcated in warps of cotton sarees.

Chanderi sarees have distinguishing light-weight, glossy feel, and transparent texture. The motifs are uniquely made up mostly of geometric shapes, peacocks, flowers and traditional coins. The zari is golden or silver made up of fine silk.

The weavers of handloom sarees are indeed our heritage who put in long, pain-staking efforts of making each handloom saree a masterpiece. Did you know handloom sector is second largest economic activity after agriculture? It is important to preserve our heritage of handloom sarees which is diminishing with the onset of machine prints and ever evolving technology. Hope I was able to provide the right information about handloom sarees and especially about Chanderi sarees.

Currently loving Zaful Stuff

Firstly this is a long pending post from my order with Zaful for Xmas. Some items arrived as late as in January and till that time, I forgot that I had kept all the items received for future use. However as they say better late than never, so here's what all I got from my Xmas wishlist.

I had ordered two leather pouches, one t-shirt and two earrings. If you know that I totally love studs you won't be surprised by this. This time the products u have received are of superior quality. I had just shopped once from Zaful before this, but this time I am amazed by the quality of studs and leather pouches.  The t-shirt is of okay quality, but nothing which you cannot wear for a light walk around the garden.

Leather pouches (Leather Owl Print Zip Around Wallet)
The leather pouches quality is amazing, they have two compartments and a small zip section to keep changes or coin. However the pouch cannot accommodate mobile phone and change simultaneously. Still I would rate it a good one as we carry wallet in our vanity bag. One beige colored pouch I gifted to my friend on her Xmas Eve party so that's missing in the picture.

Studs (Diamond Earrings and Rhinestoned Christmas Snowflake Hoop Earrings)
Both the studs look as if they are made up of silver with real diamonds, sadly they aren't 😛. The stone quality is good and I particularly love the Snowflake one more than the diamond one.

T-shirt (Striped Patchwork Asymmetric T-Shirt)
As said earlier the t shirt is not of that good quality but it's okay. I loved wearing it during my evening walks to garden with my son. Light weight and easy to maintain. I ordered it as I loved the colour combination and stipe work on it.

So this was my Xmas wishlist from Zaful which I received in two installments, one arrived with beige pouch and earrings, whereas one arrived 3 weeks alter with t-shirt and black pouch. Overall am happy with the quality stuff Zaful.com provides.

4 Skincare Essentials to Stock up this Summer Season

Hi All,

How's the summer treating you or should I ask your city 😣? Here in Bangalore it's hot as hell and never had been Bangalore so much harsh in terms of summers. Anyways, let the sun rise, we better be ready with our skincare Army to battle the summer woes. I have made a list of must-have summer skincare essentials and also the best places to buy them at discounted rates.

Sunscreen
With the sun being harsh this year, one shouldn't forget to stock up on this number of Skincare Essential in our list. Choose a sunscreen which suits your skin as well as the one with right SPF. Remember right SPF provides the right protection. I have committed the mistake of not using sunscreen in my late 20s and I already have freckles on my face. I sometimes buy sunscreens from Big Basket and you can even save some money by using some Big Basket Coupons

Face and Body Mists
I thoroughly love using face mists (floral waters), although I haven't officially bought any face mist. I call my florals waters as face mists 😛. Face and Body Mists exude a nice fragrance as you sweat and are apt to keep away the sweaty fragrance. Long back I ditched toners and my skin is totally loving it and making it even more evident by showing up lesser breakouts than usual. Nykaa has a nice collection of face and body mists from Fab India, Natural Bath and Body, Yves Rocher to name a few. Get your Face and Body Mists at a discounted rate with Nykaa Coupons

Face packs
If you follow my blog you might know how much I love using face packs or masks 😁. Face packs help reduce the excess sebum secretion while rejuvenating the skin. Clay based face packs are preferred during summers by most of the oily skinned beauties. My goto place for buying face packs is Amazon as my favorite brand Auravedic is always on discount only (and only!) Amazon. Apart from that, I enjoy using Burst of Happyness clay cleanser and Detox Mask. Both the brands are equally good and I usually buy them using Amazon Coupons.

Moisturisers
Don't commit the mistake of ditching moisturisers during summers, rather choose a light moisturiser if you oily skin. With the winter moisturisers still in the stash, you won't even feel like using them. Some light weight moisturisers might help you get back on track. I had shopped with Aplava last year and had a good experience with their customer care when my order had faced a problem. They have a nice range of moisturisers along with some international brand. What's more? You can even save some fancy amount of bucks using these Aplava Coupons

I haven't included foaming face washes as I have already switched to powder face washes (more on that, in next post) and my skin is totally loving the change so stay tuned for next couple of posts. As of now, make the most, of the coupons mentioned above and yes also don't forget to check out couponsji.in site for amazing coupons. A penny saved is a penny earned after all 😁😁😁.

DIY Rose Coffee Face and Body Scrub

Hello All,

How's the summer treating you all? I know this year it's been really hot as compared to previous years, atleast here in Bangalore. Coming back to the post today am sharing a recipe of a delicious scrub which can also double up as a face scrub and it's very easy to make with just 4 ingredients.

If you are following my Instagram page you would have seen a story of coffee + rose infused oil a few days back. After making the oil via a hot process, all remained was some rose petals and coffee with a bit of oil. So I thought why not use it since the coffee and rose petals were all organic. I used edible olive oil so that too was a bit costly and I thought why waste 😁😜.

I also added some oats flour (rolled oats flour) for some binding of scrub. Here goes the recipe of the Rose and coffee scrub by Skincare Villa 😁😁😁

Ingredients
1) Handful of Dried Rose Petals
2) Half tbsp of organic coffee
3) Edible Olive oil ( you can use Almond Oil, Grapeseed oil or even better Jojoba oil)
4) Oats flour (half tbsp)

Procedure

  1. First take the rose petals and churn them out into smaller pieces in a mixer or coffee grinder. The petals would be of any size as per your choice. I have made a fine powder sort with some small chunks.
  2. Make the oil a little warm not too hot and add rose petals and coffee powder to it.
  3. Let the mixture sit for around 4-5 hours
  4. Now add Oats flour and again mix well. If needed churn the mixture once again on slow speed so that all ingredients mix well
  5. Let the scrub rest for 4-5 days in a closed jar. If you feel the rose petals are dry still add some 3-4 drops of oil to it.
  6. Add some water to the scrub and use on your face and body. You will immediately see a glow and softness in your skin.

NB

  • Do not let water enter the jar.
  • The recipe can be easily customized according to your choice and ingredients available.
  • Can also double up as a face mask 😁😁😁😁

PS - We are up for orders of Rosé Turmeric Cleanser after a thorough testing of 2 weeks (used daily)

Today's post is about one such shopping portal which offers everything your home and you need. Right form fashion to home décor to repairing material needed for home. Sounds amazing? My order was placed (on my behalf) on 23rd March 2017 and I received it hassle free on 7th April 2017. The products were wrapped in a plastic bag and none of the products were damaged in the transit. That's the major concern of all of us whenever we have international package arriving. Overall I was satisfied with the products as well as the packaging and hassle free shopping experience.

Let's take a look at what all I shopped for
1) Artificial White Camellia Silk Flower Bouquet

Organic, natural, vegan skincare products! What's more you ask, I would say zero waste personal products. Yes, that's the underlying objective of the brand which we are going to talk about today, Bare Necessities. It is Bangalore based brand which focuses on using the best ingredients that are zero waste and ethically sourced. Also they boast of keeping their products bare with minimum ingredient list which are not designed to last and are heart made as well as handmade. The packaging they offer is also recyclable which is glass and metal cap jars. The products were sent to me in a brown paper bag with a small hand written note.

You can buy the products on their website barenecessities.in

Let's see what they have more to say and then the review of some of their products.

About Bare Necessities
Bare Necessities is the brainchild of Sahar Mansoor, who currently lives a zero waste lifestyle in Bangalore, India. A University of Cambridge alumna, with a background in environmental planning, policy and law. Sahar formerly worked at the World Health Organization in Geneva. Zero Waste is a goal that is ethical, economical, efficient and visionary, to guide people in changing their lifestyles and practices to emulate sustainable natural cycles. The aims to reduce what we trash in landfills and incinerators to zero – and to rebuild our local economies in support of community health, sustainability, and justice

Bare Necessities Espresso Yourself Coffee Body Scrub
Ingredients - Coconut oil, Organic Coffee Powder
Coffee aficionados this is for you! A great body scrub which not only removes dead skin cells but also provides antioxidants to the skin as well as reduces cellulite. I enjoyed using this scrub although just for body. I haven't tried it on face yet.

Bare Necessities The Grasshopper
Lemongrass Bath Salts
Ingredients - Organic Epsom Salts, rock Sea Salt, Organic Coconut Oil, Lemongrass EO, Rose buds
A refreshing bath time is what I experienced after using these bath salts. My bathroom was smelling as fresh as my skin. The bath salts are a perfect way of unwinding after a hectic, sweaty day in these summers. Moreover the salts also help in detoxifying the skin. I often love using this one as a foot soak also.

Bare Necessities Lavender Levitate
Bath Salt
Ingredients - Organic Epsom Salts, rock Sea Salt, Organic Coconut Oil, Lavender EO, Lavender buds
Lavender is used for alleviating stress and tension. I didn't experience anything special after using this bath salt and would prefer using it as a foot soak.

Bare Necessities Terracotta
Body scrub
Ingredients - Organic Green Gram, Organic Gram Flour, Multani Mitti, Orange Peel Powder
This body scrub makes your skin so soft that you cannot keep your hands off your face and hands. Although the scrubbing effect offered by this body scrub is a bit less than expected, I still loved using it because of the fresh orange peel fragrance it offers. However I plan to use this as a face pack by adding turmeric and milk to it.

Overall am impressed with the 'hatke' mission of the brand since what we need today is waste management. I was so inspired by the mission of this brand that when I made a coffee + rose infusion oil I didn't throw away the rose petals and coffee, rather I made it into a scrub by adding oats to it and used as a body scrub 😊😀. I would highly recommend you to try the brand.

The Body Shop British Rose Exfoliating Gel Body Scrub

I rarely use a body scrub unless I think of emptying a product 😛. I have always refrained from TBS brand due to high price, however as stated earlier, luck was by my side and I won an Instagram giveaway which had TBS products up for grabs. Today's review is about TBS British Rose Body Scrub, this is a long pending post and I thought of reviewing it 😐.

My experience
The big, bulky tub packaging is black in colour with beautiful pink rose impression on top. The packaging is thick plastic and is not easily breakable. The scrub is baby pink coloured jelly with tiny scrub particles of rose. The inner bud part of rose have been used and I think plus some walnut particles also.

The scrub has a very mesmerizing rose fragrance and I am sure you will be addicted to it. The scrub very effectively brushes off dead skin cells and dirt. It easily spreads over the skin leaving it very soft and moisturized. I love using the scrub more as a face scrub than as a body scrub. The scrub has sufficient quantity of scrub particles not much nor less. Also the scrub particles size is very appropriate and aren't harsh.

When used as a face scrub it effectively removes the white heads as well as dead skin cells. It makes the akin soft and even toned while leaving a hydrated look. I totally love this scrub and would highly recommend it as both body scrub as well as face scrub.

The In

  • Doubles up as a body scrub as well as a face scrub
  • Mesmerizing fragrance of rose
  • Scrub particles are not harsh
  • Scrub particles density is perfect
  • Effectively scrubs off dead skin cells as well as dirt
  • Makes the skin soft and smooth

The Out

  • Bulky packaging
  • Contains parabens
  • Contains Perfume

Price, Shelf life and Availability - 1295 INR for 250 ml with a shelf life of 3 years. Available online as well as in TBS stores.

Recommendation
I would recommend this scrub if you are TBS lover as well as love luxurious skincare junkie. Other than that I wouldn't say this is a must try or must buy. Do try if at on discount. Paraben tag, perfume tag is all mind, instead would love trying any homemade scrub.

VLCC Diamond Facial Kit Review

Weekends call in for some pampering and I this weekend I just enjoyed a home facial with VLCC Diamond Facial Kit. I had never tried a proper facial at home apart from a facial massage with The Nature's Co Multi-Vitamin Facial Massage Cream. I experienced a relaxing me time while using the facial kit. Let's take a look at the contents and effects of the facial kit.

The Kit includes small pouches which are designed for one time usage. The kit comprises of the following

  1. Comfrey Cleanser cum toner 10g
  2. Diamond scrub 5g
  3. Diamond Detox lotion 5ml
  4. Diamond Massage Gel 10g
  5. Diamond Wash off Mask 10g
  6. Oil Free Moisturising Gel 10g

For each product mentioned in the above list it's to be used in the above given sequence starting from top. For each product the directions of usage as well as key ingredients are mentioned on the pouch itself. The outer cardboard packaging bears the detailed ingredients list of all the above products. Now let's get started with each product and it's function

Comfrey Cleanser cum toner (twist cap packaging)
The cleanser is to be massaged into the skin for a few minutes and then wiped off with moist cotton. The cleanser is of glue consistency and white in colour with thick and smooth texture. It gets absorbed in the skin instantly after massaging and plumps up the skin. Basically this is a pre facial step so as to tone the skin for further processes.

Diamond scrub
Scrub is to be massaged into the skin and wiped off with moist cotton balls. The consistency of the scrub is gel like with diamond bhasma particles in it. The scrub while massaging feels like we are scrubbing the diamond powder onto the skin. The scrub particles are very tiny yet scrub effectively and remove dead skin cells and dirt if any.

Diamond Detox lotion
The lotion is white in colour with a thin texture and medium consistency. The lotion is to be massaged well on face and neck area till it gets absorbed. Once absorbed it's not to be wiped off the face. Proceed to the next step.

Diamond Massage Gel
The massage gel is a transparent, thick gel with minute diamond bhasma particles in it. However they weren't like the ones in the scrub, rather they kept on swirling on the face as we massage the face. The massage gel has a very peculiar fragrance which wasn't so pleasant to me, rather it felt very artificial. The massage gel gets absorbed easily and gives a baby soft skin instantly. After massaging, the gel is to be wiped off with moist cotton.

Diamond Wash off Mask
My favourite step, mask 💃. The wash off Mask has a gel consistency with opaque gel and diamond bhasma particles in it. The gel spreads easily on the skin to form a peel off Mask sort. Howover it doesn't dry up like a peel off Mask. After 15 minutes I washed off the mask and it took some time to get wahed off. Post this step my face was beaming with a glow.

Oil Free Moisturising Gel
The oil free moisturiser is the last step of the face. It has a screw cut mechanism. The moisturising gel is sunset yellow in colour and has a gel consistency with a pleasing fragrance. The gel gets absorbed into the skin instantly giving a oil free, hydrated look to the skin.

The In

  • Gives a nice glow which lasts almost 1 day
  • Skin feels very soft and smooth from the pre facial step itself
  • Quantity offered of all products would last 3 uses easily
  • Steps, ingredients and procedure is nearly printed on the pack
  • Travel friendly, convenient packaging
  • Best for on the go facial at home
  • Pleasant fragrance of all products

The Out

  • Contains Parabens
  • Fragrance of massage gel is a bit unpleasant
  • Designed to be used as one time, but storage of pouches is a bit problematic

Price, shelf life and Availability - 350 INR for 45g + 5ml with a shelf life of 3 years. Available on discount and offer here

Recommendation
I thoroughly loved using the VLCC Diamond Facial Kit as it is good to use at home option as well as best option for on the go facial. Moreover it is easy to use and gives a radiant and soft skin which lasts for one day. The kit when stored properly will last for 3 uses as quantity offered is good. However a paraben free formulation would be highly appreciated, with the recent organic wave. If you don't mind the paraben tag then this kit would be a highly recommended one from Skincare Villa.

JivaVrksa Personal Care Products

Ayurvedic treatment as well as ingredients go a long way in benefiting the body. Few years back I had taken some Ayurvedic treatment to heal my acne and I had seen some results. But my hectic college schedule, I couldn't continue the treatment. I just love the smell of Ayurvedic powders, they remind me of hundreds of years of age old tradition of Ayurveda. Coming to today's post, it's about a Chennai based brand called JivaVrksa which offers handmade, Ayurveda based products. They offer only 4 products viz. Face wash, face pack, hair wash and body wash, all in powdered form. All the products have a typical ayurvedic fragrance which attracts me more to the products.

About JivaVrksa
JivaVrksa, is a health initiative of vrksa (Vri-K-sha : Tree - A symbol of life and endurance) Lifespace Pvt Ltd; with a vision to spread awareness on healthy and sustainable living through natural and organic personal and home care products. Our products are hand-made with utmost care to ensure we use all-natural ingredients. These ingredients were carefully crafted to ensure that no chemical preservatives, artificial dyes or colors even came close to the products we are offering. We use a combination of traditional recipes handed down through many generations to handpick the right ingredients mix to ensure we retain the freshness & originality.
All the products were packed in a simple outer brown paper packaging which has another inner white paper packaging containing the product. The products being a part of sustainable living, there is no room for plastic packaging. The products were placed in a big cardboard box. I also received a hand written note along with a handmade earring by the sister concern of JivaVrksa that is MayaVrksha. The whole concept of the brand is clearly evident in their packaging as well as the formulations of the products. Let's check the review of each product and how they perform.

Face wash
Ingredients
Chickpea (Cicer arietinum), Multani Mitti (Fuller's earth), Sandalwood (Santalum album), Rose petals (Rosa Damascena), Liquorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra), Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis), Avaram Senna flower (Senna auriculata), Neem (Azadirachta indica), Orange peel (Citrus sinensis), Basil (Ocimum tenuiflorum)

A powdered face wash with the goodness of chickpea, Multani Mitti, Sandalwood along with other ingredients is the best face wash which you can use. It thoroughly cleanses the skin removing sweat, excess oil leaving behind a soft, glowy skin without drying and being harsh. On some days I find reasons to use this face wash. I totally love the fragrance it offers. The face wash when mixed with water forms a smooth paste which is very easy to wash, unlike the foaming face wash which take more water to get washed off. I had stored the face wash in a plastic jar so I can easily use it anytime. Moreover I have also used it as a face pack 😊❤️ and it gives a glowing skin. Priced at 100 INR for 75 gms. Available here

Face Pack
Ingredients
Multani Mitti (Fuller's earth), Sandal wood (Santalum album), Rose petals (Rosa Damascena), Orange peel (Citrus × sinensis)

This 4 ingredient face pack is very effective and gives a subtle glow to the face. The face pack is offered at an affordable price, so I would love using this instead of using a DIY method of this face pack. Again this face pack form a smooth paste which aids in even application of pack. It also gets washed off easily. Priced at 150 INR for 75 gms. Available here

Body wash
Ingredients
Green gram (Vigna radiata), Indian sarsaparilla (Hemidesmus indicus), Dhavanam (Artemisia pallens), Nut grass (Cyperus rotundus), Gooseberry (Phyllanthus emblica), Harde Whole (Terminalia chebula), Beleric Myrobalan (Terminalia Bellerica), Fenugreek (Trigonellafoenum-graecum), Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis), Avaram Senna flower (Senna auriculata), Soap berry (Sapindus trifoliatus), Neem (Azadirachta indica)

I love doing the traditional abhyang snan kind of bath and this body wash is perfect for that. I often use it on weekends when I have lots of me time. The body wash cleanses well leaving behind a herbal smelling, soft and smooth skin. I don't mind the price tag at all and would love using this body ubtan during Diwali 😊😀. Priced at 80 INR for 75 gms. Available here

Hair wash
Ingredients
Shikakai (Acacia concinna), Usilai (Albizia amara), Gooseberry (Phyllanthus emblica), Harde hole (Terminalia chebula), Beleric Myrobalan (Terminalia Bellerica), Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum), False daisy (Eclipta prostrata), Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis), Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis), Green gram (Vigna radiata), Soap berry (Sapindus trifoliatus), Orange peel (Citrus × sinensis), Vetiver (Chrysopogon zizanioides), Neem (Azadirachta indica)

I have never used a powder hair wash and I was quite skeptical while using this. To my surprise this made my hair soft and manageable in just one use. Luckily i used this hair wash when I hadn't oiled my hair. The hair wash didn't dry out my hair further but cleaned them. I am yet to try them on my oily hair so cannot comment on that front. The hair wash firs the bill when you haven't oiled the hair and want to treat your hair to Ayurvedic ingredients once in a while. Priced at 80 INR for 75 gms. Available here

Overall I was very happy with all the 4 products offered by JivaVrksa. My Ultimate favourite from the list has to be face wash which has prevented my breakouts and has given me a glowing skin. I wish to repurchase it from Amazon. I would highly recommend you all to checkout the brand and reap the goodness of Ayurveda.

Acne marks, a forgotten story with Ida Naturals All Clear - Herbal Clay Mask

Acne, everyone who has battled acne or have been through an acne phase dread the acne marks. Literally! Like every war/battle leaves a catastrophe, acne too leave theirs. The stubborn marks, which take a lot of time as well as efforts, to lighten up. But, we have some good news for all acne prone skin folks. The Ida Naturals All Clear - Herbal Clay Mask works like a charm on the acne marks. Read the full review on the efficiency of the mask.

Ingredients
Organic Spirulina, Bentonite clay, Rhassoul clay, French Red Clay, French Pink Clay, French Green Clay, Kaolin clay, Neem, Tulsi, Red Sandalwood, Aloe Vera, White Turmeric, Wild Turmeric, Rose Petals,Activated Charcoal, Manjishta and Lotus flower powder

My experience
The product is packed in a simple pet jar which I find very travel friendly and easy to use. The face pack has a herbal smell with the algae fragrance being the top note. The consistency of the face pack is powder form with intermittent grainy particles which are too tiny, and don't cause any problems.

Once the pack is mixed with water, the colour of the mask turns a bit greenish. The consistency of the face pack aids in even application of the pack. The pack dries up quickly and makes the skin feel a little stretchy. Major reason being, it has 6 wonderful skin loving clays. Coming to the efficiency of the face pack, the face pack makes the fresh acne marks fade away in just 2 uses. The old marks do take some time, like 4-5 days to fade away. But the new ones are like been today, gone tomorrow. I have also used the pack on my post pregnancy pigmentation, and I have seen a noticeable difference. However it does take time on tough pigmentation patches.

Post application the skin feels smooth, even toned and squeaky clean. It gives a temporary purified look to the face. The amazing herbs in the ingredients list give a radiant look with regular usage. The skin feels a bit dry after application, but that's nothing which a moisturiser cannot cure.

Does VLCC Snigdha Skin Whitening Night cream serve the purpose of a nourishing night cream?

Ever since I have started using night creams and day creams I am tempted to try a variety of them. Few weeks back I was eyeing the Snigdha range of VLCC, when the PR contacted me for review of some VLCC products. They sent me the VLCC Snigdha Skin Whitening Night cream as well as day cream. Today's review is about the VLCC Snigdha Skin Whitening Night cream. After using for around 15-17 days am ready to post my review.

Brand claims
A unique blend of hydrating yet non greasy formula that reduces the appearance of dark spots and dullness for a healthy looking natural fairness that glows from within. Rich in natural actives, ideal for night care application, it removes blemishes and dark spots, deeply hydrates the skin and rejuvenates the skin cells, giving fairer and radiant complexion along with preventing from early aging.

Ingredients - Aqua, Cyclopentasiloxane, Isopropyl myristate, Cetyl Alcohol, Emulsifying Wax, Steareth -21, Olive oil, Almond Oil, Comfrey extracts, Glyceryl Monostearate, Trehalose, Propylene glycol, Dimenthicone, Steareth-2, Niacinamide, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Methylisothiazolinone, Butyl hydroxytoluene, Disodium EDTA, CI15510, Perfume.

My experience
The cream is packed in a white, plastic tub with a plastic twist up cap. Plastic packaging makes it light to travel with, unlike the glass packaging ones. The cream has a pleasant floral scent which lingers a bit post application. Nonetheless I love the fragrance very much, it's not very strong, just enough to make it's presence felt. The cream is milky white in colour with a but frothy consistency. The cream has a medium texture neither being too heavy nor being light gel sort. This makes it very suitable for all skin types.

The cream gets absorbed when massaged for a while into the skin. No greasiness or oiliness is felt post application. I have oily and acne prone skin and the cream didn't make my skin oily not did it broke me out 😀👍. The cream required for each use is very little, hence it lasts longer. After applying at night the skin feels soft and smooth. Due to the moisturization of the cream the skin is plumped up giving an even toned skin. After using the cream for few days, all you get is a buttery soft skin in the morning with a very pleasant fragrance as you splash water on your face ❤️.

Coming to the efficiency of the cream, it shows very little effect on fading the dark spots. I haven't used the cream keeping in mind any whitening or skin lightening properties. I have treated it as a normal, nourishing night cream and the VLCC Snigdha Skin Whitening Night cream perfectly fits the bill. It hydrates, moisturises the skin perfectly and the skin feels rejuvenated in the morning. I would recommend the use of VLCC Snigdha Skin Whitening Night cream as a nourishing night cream barring the whitening claims.

The In

  • Provides enough hydration and moisturization
  • Rejuvenates the skin with constant usage
  • Medium thick consistency makes it suitable for all skin types
  • Pleasant fragrance
  • Non greasy, non oily formula
  • Gets absorbed easily into the skin
  • Affordable price, usually on discounts online
  • Easily available online as well as in stores

The Out
  • Contains Parabens
  • Contains Perfume

Price, Shelf life and Availability - 405 INR for 50gms with a use before date. Easily available online as well as in stores. Can be found on discounts on major shopping portals like here.

Recommendation
I would recommend the use of VLCC Snigdha Skin Whitening Night cream as a nourishing night cream barring the whitening claims. I have treated the cream as a normal, nourishing night cream and VLCC Snigdha Skin Whitening Night cream perfectly fits the bill. It hydrates and moisturises the skin perfectly and the skin feels rejuvenated in the morning. Moreover it suits all skin types. If you are looking for a change in your night cream, do go for this one.

Is Himalaya Herbals Acne n Pimple Cream the right thing to tame Acne?

The moment you think your skin is in good condition your skin immediately proves you wrong 😡😣😣. I rarely get breakouts while travelling so I didn't carry any pimple cream with me, only thing I carried was Auravedic Anti Blemish face mask with me. To my utter dismay I had small zits all over my left cheek. That's when I thought of getting a pimple cream, Himalaya Herbals Acne n Pimple Cream.

Brand claims and Ingredients here

My experience
As seen in the pictures the cream is housed in a small 20g tube which bears a the signature Himalaya Herbals packaging. The cream is beige in colour with a hint of glazy appearance. If you have ever used Vicco Turmeric cream you would understand the glazy appearance, else it is very unexplainable 😛.

Coming to the consistency and texture of the cream, it's very light in consistency and texture very soft. The fragrance is very pleasant with floral, herbal scent which lingers a bit and depends upon the area of application. The cream needs to be massaged a bit and is intended to be used as a spot treatment day and night.

I applied on my zits during travelling in the morning after bath and before hitting the bed. The next day my small zits disappeared without leaving any marks. The big acne spots however took around 2-3 days, to reduce in size. The cream works on reducing the puffiness of the acne and not the size of the acne. Big ones which are full fledged ones will take time to go off. Smaller ones got tamed away easily😂.

One more thing, it controls the acne and doesn't prevent the acne. While I was working on my left cheek acne new big one emerged on right cheek inspite of applying the cream on right cheek. Moreover the cream has parabens but can be used as a handy product to make the appearance of acne less prominent than the untreated ones. Also the product needed for each use is very less, rather than 20g tube itself will last longer than 4-5 months.

The In

  • Reduces the acne size
  • Works from first day itself
  • Cream has a pleasant smell
  • Travel friendly size
  • Budget friendly product
  • Cream has no sticky texture and is absorbed nicely when massaged well

The Out

  • Contains Paraben
  • Is not a preventive measure for acne

Price, Shelf life and Availability - 45 INR for 20g with a shelf life of 3 years. Easily available online as well as in stores.

Recommendation
I would recommend the Himalaya Herbals Acne n Pimple cream as a control measure when we want to reduce the pimple appearance. But the cream cannot be used as a preventive measure for acne. Also it contains parabens and hence some may not like it. It would be good if a formulation sans paraben is available.
