4 ways of making gifting more effective


We all know that right gift creates a lasting impression, but with some tips you can make gifting more memorable. Birthdays remain all time popular occasions, followed by marriages and anniversaries, for gifting. Today we will see how gifting on birthdays can be made effective with the following 5 steps.

Greeting cards
Cards play an important role of conveying our feelings and emotions, which we otherwise shy from expressing. A cute greeting card or a hand written note accompanying a gift makes lasting impressions. Some people preserve greeting cards received for ages. When they read it after years you will surely be remembered for your friendship and affection.

Gifting time
People usually prefer gifting on the very same day of the occasion. No no, am not going to tell to gift early, instead choose a perfect timing for gifting. Some find it good to gift as the clock strikes 12 o'clock whereas some prefer breakfast timing. I suggest be random with your timing and don't make it a routine. Sometimes gifting very late, that is at the end of the day also adds charm to the gift as the person has waited enough for you to offer the gift. So find your perfect timing and then gift.

Gifting way
Ofcourse take sufficient time out for gifting and watch the person's reaction. Gifts can also be couriered, hidden in the wardrobe, kept on the dining table so that the person finds it. Simple way is gifting in hand. You can make it merrier by keeping in laptop bag or couriering it to the office or simply by paying a surprise visit to office and then gifting. Find your comfort zone and give the gift.

Add-ons
Usually add-ons should not overshadow the gifts so make sure you choose right add-ons. Bouquets, chocolates, cards, hand written notes, cakes are all time favorites when it comes to add-ons. But selecting a personalised add-ons is really important. The colour of the flower, particular chocolate brand, favorite cake flavours go a long way in conveying how much thoughts you have put in the add-ons.

Simple ways to be happy when feeling low

The other day one of my best friends was feeling low for unobvious reasons and was asking me for advice as to prep her mood up. I advised her to read a book or watch a movie. After some days she got a hair cut done and told me how it lifted her mood instantly. She enjoyed the attention she got in her office because of the haircut.



After this incidence I thought how simple things bring joys in our life, and so was this blog post born. We will take a look at some simple and day to day activities which prep up our mood in no time.



Gardening-
It is scientifically proven that gardening can lift your moods instantly. Spending time with nature has positive effects on our nervous system and thus helps in lifting our moods.



Cleaning-
Getting organised or cleaning has an effect on the sense of being organised in human beings. This helps in preping up the mood. And how happy we become when we find our things in place.


Baking-
Baking can be a treat to our senses, mental soundness. It brings out postitve results and is associated with nurture and goodness. I agree baking requires skills, but you can try some simple recipes and lift your spirits up. If at all you hate cooking and baking as such all you can say do is eat a cupcake, brownie, fudge to get into good mood. What say?!



Organising your wardrobe
Believe me this helps a lot in getting things organised and helps in decluttering too. I always go in for this option when am angry Orr feeling low as such. Some favorite clothes lying deep in the wardrobe bring such a joy.




Reading
Reading is my all time favorite hobby when am free, am angry, sad, feeling low, or simply bored. Reading a novel takes you into a whole new world and makes you forget your worries, at least for a while. Reading anything simply brings a sense of looking at things from others point of view.

Raw mango pickle quick and easy

Raw mango pickle

Today we will see how a very quick and easy raw mango pickle is made. I have learned to make this recipe by my neighbourhood uncle. Believe me it tastes fantastic. Without taking much of your time let's get back to the recipe.

Ingredients
- 1 small raw mango
- 1 small onion
- Salt and sugar to taste
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- Cumin seeds and mustard seeds
- Turmeric powder a pinch
- Chilli powder
- Roasted and grounded peanuts

Procedure
1) Chop raw mango and onion to small pieces and mix with grounded peanuts and keep aside.
2) Keep the oil in a tadka pan and add mustard and cumin seeds, after mustard seeds split, add turmeric powder and chilli powder.
3) While adding chillipowder turn off the flame.
4) Temper the mixture with tadka and add sugar and salt and mix well and store in refrigerator.

Your dish is ready to be savored.

NB - Shelf life is 2-3 days, causes acidity when consumed in excess, highly addictive.
Chilli powder, salt, sugar can be adjusted according to the tanginess of the raw mango.

Peanut chutney - a Maharashtraian delicacy

Hi All,

I am a typical Maharashtrian born with the love for spicy food. And Maharashtrian menu is incomplete without peanuts. We tend to add grounded peanut in almost anything ranging from salads to vegetables to sweets.

So am sharing a simple side dish made from roasted peanut.

Preparation time - 5 minutes
Cooking time - 5 minutes



Ingredients
- Roasted peanuts slightly grounded.
- Chilli powder
- Salt
- Cooking oil

Procedure-
1) Heat tava or frying pan on medium flame. Put 2-3 tbsp cooking oil and let it heat.
2) Add required quantity of grounded peanuts, chilli powder and salt according to taste.
3) Mix well and turn off the flame. Let the chutney be crisp, don't make it crisper as it may burn. Remove from tava/ pan after you get an aroma of roasted peanuts
4) Your dish is ready to serve. Serve with curd or Vada paav or Roti as a side dish.

Dalia upma




Hi,

I am back with another upma recipe. Am a big big fan of upmas be it Rava upma or Vermicelli upma or Dalia upma. Dalia is said to be healthy option for breakfast and can be prepared as a sweet delicacy or a spicy one(I don't like sweet dalia though). So going back to the recipe, this is easy and quick.

Cooking time - 25 minutes
Preparation time - 5 minutes
Serves - 3

Ingredients-
2 cup dalia or broken wheat
1 small onion finely chopped
4 tbsp cooking oil
1/4 cup sweet corn
Salt according to taste
1/4 tbsp mustard seeds
1/4 tbsp cumin seeds
1 small green chilli
A pinch of turmeric powder
Lime juice and coriander for garnishing

Procedure-
1) Pressure cooker dalia using water upto 4 - 5 whistles. Cook as we cook rice in pressure cooker. Let it cool down. For 1 cup of dalia around 2 cups of water is needed. You can always cook the extra water while preparing the dish.
2) Take a pan or kadhai and heat oil in it. Add mustard seeds and then cumin seeds. Add chopped onion and fry till it's faint brown. Add sweet corn and stir fry till the corn is tender.
3) Add turmeric powder and dalia and mix well. Add salt according to taste and let it cook on low flame for 5-7 minutes.
4) After it is cooked well, turn off the flame and garnish with lime juice and coriander and serve.

NB - If extra water is there after cooking the dalia that can be cooked when the dish is prepared.
