Easy and Quick Spiced Potato slices

You have heard of potato wedges, this is a similar recipe, with just slices. It's an easy recipe usually to satisfy the craving of a potato chip. Ah and this is a recipe by my MIL :). I love this recipe and prepare it whenever I feel like having potato.
So let's get started with the recipe.

Preparation time - 5 minutes
Cooking time - 15 minutes

Ingredients
- 2 to 3 big potatoes
- Red chilli powder
- Salt
- A little bit of water
- Cooking oil

Procedure
1) Wash the potatoes thoroughly well. Do not peel the skin of the potatoes.
2) Cut them into slices. They should be mediumely sliced.
3) Put them in a pan, add chilli powder and salt according to taste.
4) Add a little bit of water to make sure that the slices are well covered with chilli powder. Keep aside for a few minutes.
5) Put liberal amount of cooking oil on a tava or frying pan on a medium flame. Put around 3 to 4 slices on pan or tava. Cover with a lid.
6) Let the potato slices steam on medium or low flame. Check whether the slices are steamed and toss up and steam the other side of the slices. Repeat for all the slices :).
7) Take off the flame and garnish with lemon juice. That is it, your dish is ready to eat.

NB -
To check whether the slices have steamed or not put a knife through the slice. If it goes through easily they are cooked.
The slices should not be too thin as thin slices will become crisp and not too thick as thick slices they will not get cooked properly

Do try and tell me in the comments section below. Do you know any recipe with potato? Share it with me on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and Instagram.

DIY Facial wipe flowers

Hiya folks,

Today am posting my first DIY flower post. I had made my DIY organde flowers way back when I was in college but was not happy with the stiff and dull flowers. So I have used the same technique but with a twist.

I have used the facial wipes to make these flowers. I first tried making the flower with an unused facial wipe lying in my drawer and even used baby wipes to make some more.

Why I used facial / baby wipes to make the flowers?
- Was not happy with the stiff organde paper
- Facial wipes make a fluffy flower
- Its easier to twist, fold, wrap and tie them.
- They smell great, aha :)

So following is the tutorial for the flowers. I don't know the name and am surely not going to call them roses because they don't look like one.

Things you will need
- Facial wipes / baby wipes
- Cotton buds
- Thread for tying

Instructions
1) Take a single facial wipe. Cut it in a square because usually they are rectangular in dimension. Make about 4-6 small squares of one facial wipe.
2) Take one of the square wipes which you have cut. Fold one corner of the square piece as shown in the picture.
3) Fold the opposite corner of the same piece to make it look like as shown in the below pic no. 3.
4) Now fold the piece along the horizontal symmetry line to look like as shown in the image no. 4. Fold all the pieces to make the flower.
5) Take a cotton bud and start rolling the petals around it as shown in the picture no. 5
6) Go on rolling all the petals around the bud and tie the thread at end to keep the petals in place. Your flower is ready.

Things to work on in this DIY
- Colourful flowers
- Find a way to work on the stem

Soon I will be making the coloured versions of these flowers till then have a great day ahead. And yes do tell me how these flowers are in the comments section below.

Liebster award acceptance and nominations

Aah finally an award to egg you on to blog more and get connected to other bloggers! Lavinia Lynch has nominated me for Liebster Award. Lavinia Lynch blogs at Recipes for busy Mums and being a new mum on the block  I can perfectly relate to her idea of quick recipes for busy mums.

This award means much more to me than just accepting, putting up a badge and nominating fellow bloggers. It's difficult to manage home, an eight month old baby and then try and find time for blogging. It's still an honour and am going to accept my award.

Things You Should Know About Me if We are going to be BFF

Hi All,

I had a great time writing this post. If we are BFF we tend to know a lot more about them, sometimes the things even they are unaware of. So following is the list you need to know if we were gonna be BFF.

#1 I am an extremist in all things, as my heart knows only two things - everything or nothing at all.
#2 I am a grammar Nazi.
#3 I don't like eating mangoes.
#4 I love getting drenched in heavy rains and walking with an umbrella when it's raining scantily.
#5 I love MATHEMATICS (integrations and derivations included)

#6 I am a no-makeup person.
#7 When someone says sorry to me, I am always like 'you should be'. Even if it's me apologizing :D.
#8 I love the color red but hate to see it in my wardrobe.
#9 I have a severe fetish of arranging newspapers in a neat manner in the rack or tea poy.
#10 I am a hard core Twilight fan, but I believe that you should not judge a book by the movie it's made into.

#11 I love reading books, articles, anything. Love reading that's it.
#12 I have very bad teeth and have had surgery thrice on my gums, have had two wisdom tooth extractions and three root canals done pheeww.
#13 I have a very sharp memory.
#14 I may seem practical but am a softie at heart.
#15 I am a lazy cook.

Tell me in the comment section below how many of the above things you share with me. Till then have a great day ahead.
NB - the credit for this post goes to Little Miss Momma

Letter to my lover

My love,

Your smile, your face, your way,
are my sunshine and hay.

You taught to spread my wings and fly,
You taught dreams have no limit of sky.

You taught me the meaning of love,
You taught me the meaning of beloved.

You showed me the way when I was lost,
You calmed me down when my temper was a blast.

Being with me in my ups and downs,
You promised to hold my hand when I was about to drown.

I love you with all my heart is just what I want to say,
Bcoz the months will pass and years sway.

I may not be an ideal person for you,
But I promise to be the most loving person to you.

Wrap me around in your heart and I promise to be the most loving person to you.

PS - This writing is dedicated to the only lover in my life, my beloved husband <3

Vermicelli upma

Hiya folks,

1 small onion
1 small potato
1/4 cup peas or corn or chopped carrot or combination of all  (optional)
1 cup Vermicelli (roasted or non roasted) (I used roasted Vermicelli)
1 small green chilli
Salt
1 and 1/4 cup water
3 tbsp cooking oil
1/4 tbsp mustard seeds
1/4 tbsp cumin seeds
A pinch of turmeric powder

Procedure -
1) Chop the onion, potato and green chilli and keep aside.
2) If you have non roasted Vermicelli, roast it a little till it turn brown.
3) Heat a little oil in a frying pan and add the mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds start crackling add the cumin seeds, chopped onion, potato and green chilli.
4) If you want to add peas or corn or chopped carrot you can add that too. Stir fry till all the veggies are tender.
5) Now add the Vermicelli alongwith turmeric and mix all the ingredients well. Add salt according to the taste.
6) Now add water and let it cook on a low flame till all the water evaporates and Vermicelli is cooked.
7) Check if the Vermicelli is cooked or not. If not add a little water maybe 1/4 cup and let it cook again on low flame.
8) Serve hot and garnish with coriander and lemon juice.

NB - More water will be needed if you add more veggies. This recipe is medium spicy, but chillies can be added according to the taste and spiciness of the chillies.
